Considering how difficult it can be to tell the different colors of the original cubes apart I thought is would be a good idea to make a thread where people can post links to replacement cubes.

Re: Suggestions for cube replacements?
I only have a problem with the "black" and the "turquoise" cubes. They are so transparent and clear, that you can mix them together on the playmat. Next time I play the game, I will borrow the pandemic black cubes, as they're darker, and see if it makes a difference.

Re: Suggestions for cube replacements?
I bought all cube colors from BGG store here - I wound up only replacing the "teal" cubes with green, that helped alot.

Also, people forget that the game came with chits for each of the resources which are quite easy to tell apart and have patterns on them for color-blind gamers.

While I prefer cubes (easier to handle and they look like candy ), the fact that the game also came with the chits was well appreciated!

Re: Suggestions for cube replacements?

I replaced the purple and green cubes with the same color cubes from the BGG store. Works great!

There already is a thread on this: Alternative Components for Cubes?

EDIT: Sorry, I'm an idiot that can't read

Good idea!

However, I would change the thread title to "Suggestions for replacement cubes"…

The Geek Store also has metal cubes that could stand in for gold and titanium: http://boardgamegeekstore.com/products/metal-plastic-cubes-8....

However, I cannot recommend the uranium cubes available from the Geek Store's North Korean affiliate.

Comparison of original cubes to those purchased from BGG store...

Not much difference in the gold (yellow) or titanium (grey) but I swamped them out anyhow since the BGG ones will be cheaply replaced if lost. The originals are safely stored away. And, no, I don't mind that the cheap BGG ones have a cracking problem.

I'm still on a quest to find 10mm (and heavier, if possible) translucent ones to replace these smaller 8mm ones.

What is a "crackling problem" ?
See the image above your post.

Edit: I find they look cool, but the original colors are not that good to distinguish, especially in low light.

Sorry, I misread "cracking" as "crackling" for some reason.
