Hello all,

For the first time I signed up to participate in the Extra Life fundraiser this year. I recently got a FLGS on board for hosting a 24hr game marathon this fall. I'm really excited but I'm not really sure where to go from here.

I thought "why not connect on BGG with other Extra Lifers?"

Do any of you have experience in organizing game fundraising events?
Making posters or advertising? Tips and hints you'd like to share?

Thanks!
Xanthe

I have been doing Extra Life for 5 years, and involved in the Guild program for the last 3 years. Looks like the local guild for you might be a little far away, but you could reach out to them for possible existing artwork, templates, and logos. (http://community.extra-life.org/forums/forum/37-milwaukee-ma...)

I have done some of my marathons in game stores, and I will be in Maine at the end of April to take part in some friends' Extra Life event. (https://www.facebook.com/events/1216665281758213/)

Excited to have you signed up this year. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions (you can PM me).

I will be in Orlando next week for Extra Life United, playing Dominion, Star Realms, Citadels, Smallword, Ticket To Ride, and Splendor, in tournaments with the potential prize money going to my hospital.

Don't forget to post your donation page! (el.futiles.net)

One of the organizers of a local con approached me to get involved in our event! Yay!

I also found out from the hospital I'm donating to, that we might be able to get some free radio spots before hand.

Since we're doing this in November, right now I want to pin down any planning helpers (Planning committee?), get a postcard made to hand out at any spring cons nearby, and I need to get the details figured out. I really want a few more to join Team Galaxy (http://bit.ly/2mr3D6g).

I'm thinking of 5$ a person to play during the 24hrs but really push social media before the event to get donations. I'm also thinking door prizes throughout the 24hrs would also be a good idea.
