Hello all,

we've started to play the game, with a pair of scenarios played (guess more in short) before starting the campaign. Just a question and an idea to post:

- Is the rules 1.1 version posted at comsimworld forum definitives?

- About the barrage table: we think it's very easy to achieve a step loss with this table (unless, of course, it's designed with this purpouse); besides, it sounds to us a bit strange that an artillery barrage makes the same damage than a tank battalion or a recon unit. So we thought about making these two changes in the table:
*) treat a unit with Prepared Defense AND in Terrain as in City (that's it, step loss with a roll of 5-6)
*) apply -1 to non hard AV unit

We've not tested it yet, so it's just a thought. Also, we've not played much, so may be this change can unbalance the game in a way we can't foresee right now. Any idea about it would be welcome

Yes, it is easy fairly easy to inflict damage with a barrage, yet I use suppressive fire far more often, because I'm less interested in inflicting losses in place, and more interested in taking strategic locations away from enemies.

Hello Javier,

Yes, BCS ver 1.1 as posted at CSW and printed with Baptism by Fire is the current rules set.

Hello Jim,

Try this:

The Gamers support site at Multiman Publishing does not have the BCS ver 1.1 rules posted yet. So the above link points to the header of the CSW BCS forum.

One thing to remember is that, in BCS, step losses are abstractions not simply of personnel losses, but rather of the unit's operational effectiveness. So, it could be the case that a tank battalion's Attack by Fire would disrupt, in some sense, the effectiveness on the unit on par with artillery. I would suggest having a look at the game notes, esp pp. 34-35 and see if you agree with Dean's thinking on the design. And let us know too.

I feel like the deadliness of artillery is fine - artillery caused the most casualties in WW2 combat, and a BCS battle happens when the armies are firing a lot if artillery.
