Welcome to the fifth and final stage of the Season 23 BGG Star Realms League Cup; the Platinum Stage!

The League Cup competition is is running in parallel to Season 23 of the BGG Star Realms League. This thread will have the match-ups and results of the fifth stage of play, the Platinum Stage. Members of the League who are playing in the Platinum Tier, and qualifiers from the Gold Stage, will gather here and face off in a 32-player bracket to determine the Cup winner.

If you are signed up to start in this stage of the tournament, please subscribe to this thread to be notified when the pairings are posted.

Once the pairings are posted, matches should be played in a timely manner; 72 hours (3 days) for completion is the general rule of thumb. Each match is a single game, and will be played following the League guideline of using the lowest common expansion preference.

Stage Structure:
The Platinum Stage will consist of five rounds for this season's League Cup. There are 11 Platinum Tier participants, and 21 Gold Stage qualifiers. The participants will be placed into a 32-player bracket, and will face off until the field is reduced to a single participant, who will be declared the winner of the Season 23 League Cup.

Kolok def. karmakanik

We both grabbed a Cutter during d1, and also scrappers (2:1 to me), karma picked up a Blob Wheel as well. While I had to skip a scrap to buy Flagship, my opp got hold of a Recycling Station and scrapped 2 starters (with a Hero).

I felt that karma is always a step (a good buy) ahead me, and was shell shocked when his Blob Wheel came and he snubbed Mothership... for Fleet HQ! wow That with me already sporting a Space Station!

I clearly felt a disturbance in the force, as if I had been laughed at: "He wants to kill me with a Fleet HQ!" My devastating immediate reply was a brutal Corvette/Survey Ship combo buy. #counterpicksreally

From this on, the game went my way. Had a tough time deciding btw Brain World and Mothership but went with the latter (plus a Trade Pod). Picked up some yellows and also stumbled upon the Needle. And the rest is history.

We discussed the game a bit on FB so here I just say gg, Patrick. It's been a long time since we last played. Also thx for the quick game.

dlow (P1) over randt on turn 19. My Barter World stayed up far, far longer than it had any right to, and its +2 trade/turn for half a dozen turns ended up providing an insurmountable advantage. I wouldn't have liked to have been on randt's side of the draws in that game - well played in the face of adversity!

Barter World is a quite killer. I under estimate it way too often.

And this game was Vanilla: dropping Barter World as the first play of deck 2, with me having picked up the only early damage on the row capable of removing it the buy before...
