My wife and I are moving to Los Angeles in 2 weeks. We will be near the border of Hawthorne and Manhattan Beach. Are there any groups of gamers that play regularly in or around this area? I'm fine meeting up at a game store or at people's houses. Our housing area has a community center with ample table space so we could possibly host regular meet ups.

We're looking primarily for board games, not RPGs or Wargames.

I live near downtown so I don't make it to your future neck of the woods very often, but this group meets regularly in El Segundo. https://www.facebook.com/groups/171589952957361/

Also, you'll be quite near the leading LA gaming convention, Strategicon, which takes place near LAX three times a year. http://www.strategicon.net/

Welcome to our wonderful city! It has its flaws, but there is a lot of magic to be found if you look in the right places!

They meet Tuesday nights at the Black Bear Diner in Torrance, and one Sunday a month at the Comic Bug in Redondo Beach.

They meet a couple of Thursday nights a month at the Westchester IHOP, just a bit NE of LAX.

The Random Boardgamers meet at Game Hub and, sometimes, at the El Segundo Library. They're at the Game Hub this Saturday. Ask for Alfonzo.

Were you able to find a regular group yet? I'm heading to the one at the Black Bear Diner tonight for the first time.

There seems to be regularl meetings at the Game Hub and the El Segundo Library. I'll probably be going to those more often.

Also, check out the Meetup group called "Citizens of Catan". It's listed as a Cypress-based group, but actually 99% of the events nowadays take place over near the Beach Cities. The new group leader lives over that way. He's a really nice guy, and would be a good connection for you folks, I'm sure.
