Ok, I am wondering if I am playing something wrong. Can a station be assigned multiple dice in order to activate it multiple times in the same turn? Or can each station only be activated once each turn (with Fire Lasers and Repair Hull on the Halcyon ship able to accept one or more dice for the combined activation)?
Specific Example: Using the Athena Mk. II ship, can only one Tactical die be assigned to the Launch Rockets station per turn? Or can multiple Tactical dice be assigned to that station, each dealing 2 damage?
I will say, if each station can only be activated once each turn, the game really devolves into a luck-fest (to the detriment).
I'm pretty sure you can use as many dice as you want to activate a given station. For instance 2 dice as tactical dice (in fact on Halcyon you get a bonus for doing so) or 2 medical dice. I think Mononoaware has a trick that you need to populate the tactical stations and then fire that configuration, removing the dice leaving them open to do it again.
You should be able to assign, say 3 dice to Athena's rockets doing 6 total damage. Athena has better weapons but at the expense of a worse command ability.
