I read about people clipping out the counters with clippers or counter punches. Where can I find a set of these?

If I dont have one, is an Xacto knife ok? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Counter clipping is a waste of time, IMO, but if you must:

I started out clipping using the "CD Jig" scheme as found in this link:

https://wargamecenter.wordpress.com/2010/05/10/counter-clipp...

This is certainly an economical, if inconsistent solution.

Eventually, I bit down on a large stick and made the painful purchase of the Oregon Lamination "2.5mm Radius Deluxe Corner Rounder Punch Cutter".

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G08PEXO/ref=oh_aui_deta...

This is not cheap, but the results are terrific. Warning: ownership of this tool inspires you to purchase many more ASL modules to keep your clipping addiction progressing.

Ok, do you use this to cut the counters from the board or to just trim them after you have separated them?

I have an OL Deluxe like in the above video, but nail clippers do work just fine, and a lot faster.

Yes and yes. Nail clippers = inexpensive, quick, and effective. Use the same pair everytime and with even a modicum of care you get very consistent results.

Those big counter clippers take off a little too much of the counter for my taste. Been using nail clippers for 30 years and very happy with the results.

Just remember if you ever decide to get rid of a game that's been clipped, there are those folks out there that don't want a game that's had it's counters altered.
Best of luck on your decision.

Does not compute.
