Hello,

I could use some help interpreting this rule. Does the player whose turn it is request a specific ITEM from any player, or does he/she ask a specific player for an item CARD? If the latter, does the other player know which card is being handed over (if he/she agrees), or is it randomly chosen?

The rules say that the card must be revealed, which suggests that it is a card that is being asked for, not a specific item. But even if that is so, it doesn't address whether the player giving the cards is choosing it.

Thanks.

It's one of the less-crunchy rules. Discussion can be open-ended and you can phrase your requests however you like.

You can say something like:
"I could really use a weapon. Does anyone have anything good?"
And then have an open discussion about it.
But you always know which card you're going to receive before you receive it.

Nobody can ever force a card upon you that you didn't ask for.

The player giving the card chooses what card to give to the other player. That card is revealed as it needs to be used immediately per the rules. If it is not the item that was agreed upon, the exchange does not happen, as it is not the time that was requested.
