For the Archer ability card which states something to the effect of

Spoiler (click to reveal)
Place a trap in an adjacent empty space closest to the nearest enemy.

This is written from the perspective of the Archer, right? So the
Spoiler (click to reveal)
trap
would be placed adjacent to the Archer, on whichever hex is closest to the nearest player character? Thematically -
Spoiler (click to reveal)
Archers setting traps next to themselves to protect them from us as we try to advance on them.

One player in our group read it from the perspective of our player characters, meaning the
Spoiler (click to reveal)
traps
would be placed adjacent to the player characters on whichever hex was closest to the nearest enemy. Thematically -
Spoiler (click to reveal)
Archers arming previously invisible traps laid throughout the map.

Couldn't find an answer in the Official FAQ nor with searches.

Original interpretation is correct...archers are throwing traps in front of them while shooting from behind them.

Is it a moose that became a detective ? Or a detective who searches for moose?

I also got this wrong the first time, figuring that archers were lobbing fire arrows at grease puddles or bags of caltrops or something. Because shooting a trap into existence made slightly more sense to me than creating a dangerous trap right next to yourself.
