I've been playtesting Icegirl and Kelphis quite a bit this weekend, so I hope to make some updates soon. But until then, I wanted to share this new environment idea with you, it's THE(C)ROOK CITY CASINO!
I really like Setback's card "cash out", so I build this deck around the mental image of heroes and villains fighting at the roulette table in a casino.
It's meant a bit as a joke, because it is really silly and random. It can be stupidly hero friendly with extra draws, plays and powers. But if the luck is not on your side, you have lots of discards, card destruction and villain card plays. It's a gamble!
Since the casino is located in Rook City, there are lots of shady things happening here, so don't expect to always have a good time!

One-Armed Bandit 1x
Red
At the end of the environment turn, 1 player discards 1 or more cards. Shuffle the environment trash into the deck and discard its top 3 cards. If the environment cards discarded this way share a Keyword, that player draws twice as many cards as hero cards discarded this way.

Unpleasant Poker 1x
Red
At the end of the environment turn, 1 player discards up to 3 cards. Discard the top 3 cards of the villain deck. If more one-shots entered that player’s hero trash than the villain trash this way, that player draws 3 cards and puts the top card of their deck into play. Otherwise put the top card of the villain deck into play.

Low Trick Black Jack 1x
Red
At the end of the environment turn, reveal the top 2 cards of a hero deck. If they don’t share a keyword, that hero’s player may play, draw, or discard each of those cards in any order. Otherwise discard them and each player discards a card that shares a keyword with the revealed cards.

Wicked Wheel of Fortune 1x
Red
At the end of the environment turn, each player selects Red or Black. Discard the top card of the environment deck. Each player whose Selection matches the discarded cards keyword may play a card or draw a card. Each other player destroys 1 of their ongoing or equipment cards.

Rigged Roulette 1x
Green
At the end of the environment turn, 1 player selects a number between 2 and 4. That Player selects Red or Black. Discard the top card of the environment deck. If the discarded card contains the chosen keyword, that player’s hero regains hp equal to the chosen number. If not, reduce that hero’s current hp by the chosen number.

Fishy Craps 1x
Red
At the end of the environment turn, discard the top card of the environment deck. If the discarded card is a target with 7 or 11 hp, 1 player may draw a card or that player’s hero regains 2 hp. Otherwise the villain target with the highest hp regains 5 hp.

Dubious Debt Collector 2x

At the start of the environment turn, this card deals each hero character card 5-x melee damage, where x = the number of cards in that hero players hand.

Crooked Croupier 1x

Black
Whenever a Red Card enters play or the environment trash, this card deals the non-environment target with the second highest hp 2 psychic damage.

Cheating Gambler 1x

Black
When this card enters play, put the top card of the environment deck into play.
At the start of the environment turn, discard the top card of the environment deck. If it is Red, each player discards a card. Otherwise this card deals each hero target 4 melee damage and then destroy this card.

When this card enters play, put the top card of the environment deck into play.
Whenever a Red card enters play, put the top card of the environment deck into play.
At the end of the environment turn, 1 Player draws as many cards as Red cards entered play this turn and then destroy this card.

Gambling addiction 1x
Black
Activate each environment cards end of turn effect twice during the environment turn.
At the start of the environment turn, each hero deals itself 1 psychic damage and then destroy this card.

Jackpot 1x
Red
When a player draws 5 or more cards during the environment turn, that player may play a card or use a power.
At the start of the environment turn, 1 hero may deal themselves 2 irreducible psychic damage. If no hero character card takes damage this way, remove this card from the game.




- There are 6 different tables in the deck, where you can have a little gamble.
- Keywords work a bit different in this deck, as they only serve the random mechanics of the deck.
- Players can decide every round who wants to play at which table.
- Card texts are a bit lenghty, but it's hard to make each gamble work, without longer explanations.
- Parse and Visionary would obviously both be really good at cheating in a casino, which fits the theme of the deck, but would make the game way too easy.
