Looking at my "Games Owned by Year" page I noticed something. I own at least 1 game from each year from 2004 to present. Most of these were acquired in the past... 4 years or so, but they were originally from each of 14 consecutive years.

what is your biggest streak?

Is it up to now, or did it end some time ago?

does anyone else find this interesting?

According to the BGG stats page, I own a game from every year 1991 - 2016. No games from 2017 yet.

I scanned the first couple of pages of games from 1990 -- I don't see anything there that looks like a potential purchase. So I think my streak won't go back any further than 1991.

I own at least one game released every year 1987-present, or a streak of 31 years.

My streak is 15 years (missing 2001 & 2002 to make it a nice 20). Considering I only own 50 games, that's a pretty even spread I'd say

My favorite 18xx game for six players is two games of 1846 with three players each.

I own games from 1970 through 2017, or 48 consecutive years. I own nothing from 1969. A Strategy & Tactics subscription helped with this.

I'm solid to 1946. Maybe Germany was too busy in '45 to produce games?

I'm a little surprised you don't have Rivers, Roads & Rails.

My other 1969's are C&O/B&O and three 3M bookcase games.

I own games all the way back to 1994, 2 years before I was born.

Pick up the slack Pete

1997 - 2017, 1994 - 2017 when I count the Catan Card Game which I traded away some time ago. So now I have to go out and buy another 1996 game, any suggestions? whistle

1974 - 2017 - so a streak of ... uses fingers ... uses calculator ... 43 years

I only own 19 games from before 1974 so this is not going to change soon

First game I remember buying was a chessboard + pieces back in 1977 - aged 11

I know this is just a typo but I find it amusing.

EDIT: Also I'm solid from 2008-2017

Just checked but the only 1996 I have is Catan Card game.

I'm missing a 2002 one actually, otherwise I would go back to 1994.

Yeah, a typo - corrected - my mind got thrown way back to a previous century when games were $5

I go from 1968 through to 2017. I am trying to avoid the temptation to seek out designs from 1966 and 1967 in order to be able to say I go as far as 1962.

Maybe this should have its own thread but it occurred to me to ask, as an aside, how many of us have a game from their year of birth?

I don't have any from my year of birth but if I did I'd want: Bismarck

Interesting, I've never looked at that page before.

My longest streak is 2009-2016. Nothing in 2008. Second longest is 1995-2001 which is cool because I have a lot fewer games from that period and still manage that streak. Nothing in 2002.

I wonder if there are any 2002 or 2008 games I'd want?

Birth year games include Sequence (yuck, this game is technically my wife's) and Farkle (not much better.)

Skipbo is easy to find for 1967 and you don't have to play it! laugh

For 1966, I remember Coup d'Etat actually being a fun card game.
