At cons of gaming groups? How does that make you feel?
With gaming groups, some folks would rather not deal with play testing games and prototypes, so to that effect, some groups have policies against that. This thread will be barring that condition.

I severely cut back on ANY game purchases since between fewer gaming options and already have built up a game collection, no point in buying games really, let alone upcoming kickstarter titles.

However, I find just like playing most standard games, playing games that may be put up for funding in the near future, in ks, or already successfully funded isn't that much different. You still run into games that can be great, to being lousy, and everything in between. On the plus side, if there's still time, you can pitch in suggestions to improve the game (components, rules, explanations, etc.) as to help any future players of that game. Also, sometimes the designer(s) are there too, so you can give them direct feedback, or ask them why certain things are certain ways. OTOH, I've played some "meh" regular games, so I'm a bit more used to this sort of thing, when I encounter this in a game to be ks.
