For me, this is the poster child for "games I'd love to play on an iPad."

Even with mods (Near Future/MKS), High Frontier pretty much picks up where KSP finishes.

Still... yeah, that's about right

Having said that, ignoring issues of practicality and niche markets (look how long it took to get a Twilight Struggle app, and that's about as non-niche as a niche game can get), a High Frontier computer game would be a great thing, if only to noodle away against AI opponents. Generally speaking, more High Frontier is better.

I don't for one minute think that it's plausible, but yeah, would be nice.

I wouldn't mind having a phone app that replicates the fuel strip.

I think there was an Atomic Rockets nomograph for High Frontier. There was certainly one for KSP.

How about just a blank screen that one out of every six times you tap it, there erupts a klaxon and explosion sounds and videos of firey doom?

AI for HF would be best done via scripts (multiple paths to victory) and some handicup. Full AI would be too difficult for such a game. Such a game should utilize a good graphics of the Solar System. Fortunately there is "Space Engine". Its author, Vladimir Romanyuk, is awaiting an idea for a PC game. HF + Interstellar would be nicely able to be put there. All flavour images of HF would require to be made much smaller and values on cards bigger. Abilities text should be named (only names visible with mouse-on display of details). PC version would do some maths for the player (and AI), for example showing the required fuel to get somewhere or the current range of the thruster + maneuver thruster.

I'd be happy with an app I could play solo (e.g., CEO variant). So no need for AI.

If you don't mind Cyberboard, use it with the Cyberboard version of High Frontier. There is a CEO variant supporting also expert rules (Exomigration etc.).
