I just read the enhanced rules for directional retreats and they seem to say the exact same thing as my core rulebook. Did later printings incorporate this rule directly into the rules or am I missing something?

The retreat procedure for ranged attacks is the same. What changes in the updated rules is the retreat from a melee attack:

"If the hex in the opposite direction of the attack

(called the primary retreat direction) is empty, the

defending unit must take its full retreat in that

direction. If the primary retreat direction is occupied

or impassable, the defending unit must retreat in

the secondary retreat direction. The first hex in this

direction is the hex adjacent to the primary retreat

direction nearest the board edge that belongs to the

retreating unit’s owner."

AFAIK the errata are not included in any printed rulebook but I might be wrong.

I just cross referenced the rules pdf on the Fantasy Flight website and my rulebook is indeed different.

It seems they completely replaced the original retreating rules with the enchanced rule.

It seems so. Cool. Did they also implement the other errata?

I don't know if anything else is changed, but they did not incorporate the other enhanced rules.

They probably updated the rulebook. They did the same thing with DungeonQuest.

Directional Retreats are a rule i guess... not a variant. Coordinated Attacks should be a rule too imo.
