I understand that when flights engage in air combat, the radar plot gets really confused and essentially the flights are undetected.

That makes it really hard for a close escort mission to actually engage a flight that attacked the bombers.

I was thinking of a house rule that if a close escort flight moves at first opportunity (or maybe right after without drawing a chit) to attack the enemy flights that attacked the bombers they were escorting, they could engage as if the target flight was detected, or at least let them try to make a visual/radar sighting during their movement against that specific flight. More record keeping but makes the close escort mission a little more useful.
