Detroit, home of the Motor City Madman, unleashed a bit of madness in Turn 7, of this race. This turn claimed two racers vehicles, and nearly cost a third. The first lap of this race proved, early, that this course is not for the lighthearted. Team Chicharrones burst out in their traditional position…the lead, with the other four racers close behind. Soon enough, Out of the Fog, took their rightful positions…1-2, and held it as the second turn began. Duke and Daisy were tight behind them, in the 3-4 positions, while Team No Love! held the 5-6 positions, which clearly began to chaff at the hide of Racer X.
As G-Prix ticked off his engine points, redlining into the turns, he pulled away from his teammate, who held off the hard-charging Chicharrones crew. Oddly enough, as G-prix entered Turn 7, Daisy moved ahead of Moxie, holding that position until they were in Turn 7, as G-Prix was heading out of it.
Then, like lightning, Racer X, of the much ballyhooed Team No Love! made a bold move that had the fans up on their feet in the stands. She burst into sixth gear, with few, if any wear points to spare, yet determined to “kick some ass!” The ass that she ended up kicking, unfortunately for her, ended up being her own, and sweet Moxie, who, up until then, had been running a very tight race, as she was destined for a third, or possibly a second-place finish, and that’s when No Love! made their ‘first’ mark in Turn 7. And what a mark it was, as their were parts of Racer X’s car over at least three counties!
M5, was driving with great precision, that was cautious, removed from the pack, and, as we soon learned, methodical, in some manner, as she held her wear points till she had pulled into Turn 7. M5 pulled into the turn, hitting a ‘29’ in sixth gear, and could not keep a hold of the wheel. She drove wide, and then pulled in front of Moxie, and it was too close for Moxie’s comfort, as when she began her move, she had no place to redirect her movement, and hit her front end into M5’s backside, taking her out of the race, just before the last turn of the race. Two cars out, in a matter of seconds, and the fans were on their feet for longer than they had planned. This is when the wily-man himself, the Duke, who many are calling, “the cuke,” cause he’s as cool as a cucumber, pulled on by a heavily downshifting M5. Shortly thereafter he moved on by his race-partner, Daisy, and it was a G-Prix, Duke, Daisy, M5 finish.
Next we’re off to Canada for a bit of French, Canadian-style.
