I don't understand the point of a baddie that breaks attack dice. Are attack dice limited? If my gearloc has 2 attack skill does that mean I just get to roll 1 max if one is broken? Because otherwise I could roll 2 attack dice every turn if I had at least 2 dexterity points to do so, correct?
Poison is vital against Break baddies for this reason. Otherwise you'll need to strategically kite and/or tank any break baddies until you can hail mary them at the end of battle so you don't lose any precious die that you will need for other baddies.
I think it is also important to distinguish between attack dice and skill dice. Break states that "Any Attack Dice used to reduce this unit's HP must be Exhausted". This does mean that skill dice that reduce the unit's HPs do not get exhausted.
For example, Nugget's Longsword, Patches' Bonesaw, Tink's Cog 'n' Span, et cetera. Though most skill dice are exhausted after use, Nugget is exceptionally good against Break baddies with her Longsword.
