So I'd like metal coins to be an option. I like the updates, but brass doesn't really feel like brass without metal coins. I'll just use coins from my previous edition if that's the case.

But still, what's the word? Some newer fancier coins would be cool. Then I could use those other coins for other things.

Edit: I'm getting a vibe that Roxley is not looking at metal coins. I suppose if anyone, like me, wants them (even as an addon), here is the place to voice it.

I was too a little disappointed with the lack of metal coins. Oh well, first world problems.

I think they're going to do them as an add-on at some point, if I remember correctly.

Eh, I suppose metal coins are better than paper money, but not by much. Poker chips of Brass-appropriate colours, now that would be sweet. But otherwise cardboard sounds better than metal. Shoot. I didn't even mind the plastic money from London.

Well, for most people Brass doesn't really feel like Brass without "Martin Wallace money". Or Poker chips.whistle Really, the way the money looks like would be my least concern. (More important is, that the money stacks nicely, to determine player order easily.) Beside, there should be plenty of third party upgrade sets for metal coins.

They already got their money, I doubt they'll care about upgrading this game reprint anymore.

I'm pretty dumbfounded to imagine that a game called brass, named after metal money, wouldn't have metal coins. If you don't want it - fine. For me, I'm strongly hoping they have it as an add on.

Ægir Æxx, here's a big 'YES' to balance your 'no'. I don't really care if it is a Kickstarter goal or an add-on, but I'm adding metal coins to my copy whether Roxley goes this route or not. I'd just prefer if they were themed appropriately by the designer than trying to match the theme in an aftermarket.

I do appreciate your preference for poker chips (I saw it in another forum thread). I had a former gaming buddy that used them for everything. However, I (and the other members of my gaming group) prefer aesthetics and theme if we can maintain usability for games. This means metal coins for Brass and saving the poker chips for casino or possibly western themed games. A couple of friends from the group discussed waiting to see if coins are an option before backing.

Metal coins would put it over the top for me. Otherwise I'll stick with my original Brass.
Honestly, an upgrade to a Martin Wallace "Deluxe" version like what was offered with Ankh Morpork, A Few Acres of Snow and others would be sweet.

I don't see how metal coins would work well. I use poker chips for Brass, as you need to be able to clearly see how much everyone has spent each round. Poker chips work perfectly for this.

I admit, I'm a form follows function type as well. Metal coins seem like they would harm usability (see Coup: Dystopian universe and their shiny credits). Light and metal does some weird things.

I would like metal coins- if I can't get them in the kickstarter, maybe I could use the ones from the earlier edition.

While not the prettiest, I use these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F5O2Y1O/ref=oh_aui_sear...

The "Straight Flush" option. Hard to beat $14 for 100 quality chips, and I liked the 1-5-25-100 spread for most games, although I wish I had more 1s and fewer 100s.

To be honest, I wouldn't like metal coins as a stretch goal (a possibility to buy them as an add on is fine however).
Metal coins are heavy an add to the weight of the game. This may have an effect on the shipping costs.
I also think that cardboard coins fit in better because the rest of the game is cardboard and wood (so, please no plastic or metal).
Metal can also damage other (cardboard) game components. If you accidentally drop a metal coin on the board, or if you toss them to the other end of the board (to place them on their spot), they may leave a dent. In most games money isn't placed on the board. In this one it is.
In Brass it's also very important that you can see what other players have paid. Different metal coins are sometimes hard to distinguish, especially when there's not a lot of direct daylight (most games here are played in the evening) or if you are colorblind.
Just my two cardboard cents

Dirk. I'm trying to understand the logic behind your thinking of damaging other components. I have several games with metal coins and have not had any issues. May I ask, do you own games that use metal coins and have personal experiences on your claims or links to people that have had issues that you are raising?

It is quite easy to see how much someone has paid with metal coins. If I get the time I will post an image of my scythe coins, to show that they stack well and are easy to count from across the table.

The plastic one that came with the original were a nightmare for stacking.

For those who want metal coins, you could buy a suitable amount of old coins for about £10. Early 20th century British pennies and florins (or shillings) might nicely serve for the 1s and 5s?

I also would like to have metal coin. I do not mind to pay more as addon but I think it is not going to be in the game:

Quote:
Metal coins are within our stretchgoal budget, however we are not convinced that they are the best component for Brass. The reason is that when money is spent, it is spent to the turn order track area in a little pile. Coins can be fiddly as it is unfortunately not super easy pick coins up off a smooth table. As always, we need to select stretchgoals that we feel will truly enhance the feel of the game.

This is what Gavan said in the campaign, I also understand his point of view of course but would be nice to have something that is stackable and nice to feel and see.
Btw Roxley team is really active on bgg and listen people suggestions so I am sure they will find a good solution!

We're not going to get metal coins as a SG .. that would cost Roxley money unlike the SGs they'd already planned ahead and were just waiting to manipulate the thresholds.

- 1mm vs. 2mm player mats - when the rest of the print run was going to be 2mm anyway? That's a stretch goal? Bah. It'd have cost more to print them at 1mm.
- Introductory game as an SG? Just post the rules on BGG ...
- Foil-edged boxes? Why? To stop shelf wear? Wow. Wouldn't surprise me if it abrades quicker than properly laminated card.
- Alternate coal card art? Why? Isn't the default art good enough?

Jeez: KS BS. Blech.
