Being a responsible adult has kept me from playing more games.

Monday
Tides of Madness (2x): Back-to-back plays of this one, my wife and I winning a game a piece. The winner drove the loser mad in both cases.

Thursday
Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn (1x): After a long delay we tried this one out again. Neither of us are very comfortable with LCGs, so we tried this one open-handed and discussed strategies as we went along. This seemed to help, and we're going to give it another go soon. She pulled off the win with a reaction spell that I wasn't paying close enough attention to, and down went my Phoenixborn.

Fight for Olympus (1x): I was outmatched the entire game, as every card I placed was a reaction to the number of cards my wife was able to play. Wasn't able to get any momentum going, and she wiped the floor with me.

Sunday
Lanterns: The Harvest Festival (1x): Looking back at the week, I didn't do well at all... including last night's game of Lanterns. My wife was able to pull off one more dedication that I did at the end and pulled out the victory.

This week I'll be learning our two new games, Terraforming Mars and Great Western Trail, and we're hosting TableTop Day festivities at our place on Saturday. It should be a much better week at the table.

Happy gaming, all!

Finally, my gaming is looking a bit better again. Not entirely where it was in its best period, but better anyway!

On Monday, my GF was at her family's place, so I went to a friend to play some games.
We started out with two games of Quarto. I hadn't played this in quite a while, so I forgot that I actually really like it as a quick little brain-burner. Friend won the first game, I won the second. Or should I say I lost the first game, he lost the second, as we both lost due to oversight. Yes, we suck at Quarto

After that, we played our first game of Agamemnon. I'll have to play it a few more times before I can make a decision on what I think. So many moving pieces that I wasn't playing anything resembling a strategy by any but the most superficial of definitions. Lost this one.

We then proceeded with Brass: Lancashire. Every time I play Brass, I'm reminded of how much I love it. I read up on some basic strategy, since I was getting the idea that we could be enjoying ourselves more if we played a little better. So I explained some of it to my friend before playing. This resulted in a tighter game than we usually had, so more fun. I still won, but not by as big a margin as I've had in the past. Even though I did get all my level 4 cotton flipped, he got two shipyards. So maybe we weren't really blocking each other at all.

We finished the day with a game of Snowdonia. I bought this one mostly based on reputation. And once I owned it, I wondered if I should have bought 'just another worker placement game'. That is, until I tried it. I've played it three times so far, all with two. And each time, it's just so much fun! The idea of building the railroad together, while still being able to viciously block each other's actions is fabulous. It was his first play, so my win doesn't count

Not too much gaming for most of the rest of the week. But on Saturday, GF and I played our first game of Moongha Invaders: Mad Scientists and Atomic Monsters Attack the Earth!. I bought it at a convention because it was a cheap, big box with 'Martin Wallace' on the front. And the art looked absolutely fantastic The two-player game included is by no means a deep, strategic brain burner. But it's a fun game of hand-and-randomness management. And of big, silly monsters of course. Can't wait to try the 3-4 player game, that should be even better! My monsters crushed my GFs heroes. As they should.

Let's see what this week brings. After a long dry spell, I'm glad we're gaming again. Attack on Titan: Deck-Building Game is on the menu for tonight
