Really? Are the cars so bad that after just recently buying the game, many have to already replace components? It's that they're too big for the spaces? I don't own it yet - just asking.

It's not awful, I was just thinking about getting some historical cars for the game. I don't think the cars supplied are not useable, they don;t get in the way of the gameplay with the exception of the lines but if you can pick up the cars it's not a problem.

Not a big fan of the shapeway cars at all. Tires are huge on them. I personally prefer the smaller Eureka miniatures cars. They are cheaper, metal and look better IMHO.

The Eureka have no drivers but I fixed that with small beads.

I'm still trying to find them small enough......the one drawback.

I've been loving these Shapeways cars from the 1976 Grand Prix era:

I wrote about painting them up on my blog: Tiny Racers

The link to pick them up from Shapeways is here.

That designer has some modern cars as well but I didn't like them due to the tires looking awkwardly oversized (likely the same cars Teamski was talking about).

I thought I read somewhere that someone used greenstuff in very small amounts to roll into a ball and sub for a head for those Eureka miniatures.

The car models are great, but three of the four tracks are printed too small. A string of 4 cars in a row will take up almost 6 spaces on the small printed tracks.
With the tracks printed at full size, the cars are really nice.

I will have to give that a try. I tried to use that modeling putty but it wouldn't roll that small.....

The cost of the Eureka cars is AU $1.00 each but the shipping costs would be $19.00 to get them to Canada. Rather expensive proposition for 8 small plastic bits.

They are metal, the postage is what it is, depends how badly you want some good miniatures.

I am sure if you contact them, they will fix the shipping. It doesn't cost that much to ship a couple ounces.

The people at Eureka were very helpful about this. I messaged them about sending the cars in a padded envelope instead of boxed in a parcel, and that slashed the postage costs to a much more palatable AU$5.75 to the UK. I imagine a similar reduction to Canada would also be achievable.

My Eureka cars arrived yesterday, in a little padded envelope which was absolutely fine to protect them. Well worth getting in touch with them if the postage seems too costly.

I have not bought the 70's set yet.

The cars from season 1976 are very good. They have a length of about 2 cm each so they fit to the tracks, but this also means that they are very tiny.

In case it might be of interest...
I recently designed 25mm-long F1 for Grand Prix (since I couldn't find no 25mm models on Shapeways or anywhere else. What I found was either smaller, or bigger, or more expensive per part).
They also work for RF90, and maybe they'll work for CFR too.
https://www.shapeways.com/shops/pmg?section=Grand+Prix&s=0

It's a large set (42 cars) but if anyone's interested I can easily create a smaller set and downscale the cars if need be. Just let me know.

And done. I've created a "Championship Formula Racing" section, where I've placed the 20mm F1, plus other 20mm models (Nascar & street cars I had made for Automobiles). There.
