The city of Zoldz was famous for its street art, but unfortunately the local authorities decided there should be a big clean-up and all the walls are now clean, but boring-looking again. Even worse, there are now patrols during the night, making it harder for street artists to make beautiful wall art like there was before. So a new movement is upcoming: street art installations/sculptures. Artists can make them at home and just drop them off in a much faster time than it takes to paint a wall. Now artists try to get their work noticed by placing street art installations in the city.
Two artists try to get noticed by the media by placing their installations (cubes) on a spot in the city (cards on a 4x3 grid). Each night they both secretly go to a spot (choice depicted by dice), place an installation there and then try to move installations (or another action that is on the card where they just placed the cube) causing benefits for themselves or disadvantages for their rival. They both know that having their art installations in certain neighboring streets (pattern in the secret objective cards) will cause exposure in the media. The artist who has 3 exposures becomes the famous artist.
Zoldz is a 2-player area-control game where players have to place cubes on a 3x4 grid to create patterns that match their secret objective. Each turn both players secretly pick a spot (using dice) where to place a cube. Besides placing a cube, the action on the spot is also resolved. The first to finish 3 objectives wins the game.
12 cards (in PnP-file)
20 cubes in 2 different colors (10/10)
4 dice, preferably in the same colors as the cubes (2/2)

The photos above are from a hand-drawn prototype (which had a generic theme), but the PnP is going to look different. Hopefully I have the PnP-files done in a few days. Oh, and Zoldz is currently the project name (inspired by the city Lodz) and is subject to change.
Welcome (again) to the contest, Doug!
Good luck finishing the components...
Not sure about the theme matching the game play, but it sounds kind of interesting. Any luck with the components yet?
Hey Douggie, wheres ya bin? Game sounds good, hope you can share more of it with us.
After reading the 2 player contest thread, it sounded like this game was withdrawn from the contest. Sounded interesting though.
