Subject: Best party game for a work event rss

Hi,

I need a party game for about 20 people. They are non-native English speakers and software developers, so it shouldn't be something too dependent on language.

We need to work as a game to break down some barriers between people and hierarchy in the office.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Thanks in advance.

Does everyone have to be playing in the same game? If not, I'd suggest liar's dice. Buy a brick of 100 dice on Amazon and a pack of plastic cups. Break them up into groups of 4 or 5.

Wits and Wagers. Break them up into teams of 3-4.

It is at the beginning of the session, so getting drunk at the start won't work. :-)

Ideally it should be everyone playing together. Otherwise 2 teams of 10 playing simultaneously would work.

With 20 people? I was thinking of something without too many props.

2 rooms and a boom has little language dependency and plays up to 20 easily.

Thanks. With recent events this won't be appropriate.

Is there another theme that is available for this concept?

As other people have said, Codenames is a good choice. I bring it in for fun meetings all the time.

Hate to un-boardgame this, but you should play "Cliff-top Tag"

Cordon off an area in which about 30 people could crowd into.

Divide your group into pairs.

Explain that they are going to play tag, just between their pair (back and forth the two of them) with the following important rules:

1)ABSOLUTELY NO RUNNING
2)when tagged, spin in place twice before trying to tag back.
3)No running!
4)The entire game must be played in the cordoned off area!

Then remind them not to run, and let everyone have a good, silly, time.

If the goal is bonding and ice-breaking, there is no better option.

I learned this one from a couple who do nothing BUT run games for larger groups. professionally.

Not a board game, but I work at a tech firm, and this was a big hit at a team building event. Also, MacavityandMycroft already un-boardgamed this.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

We did multiple teams with local instances and competed based on time.

So happy to have helped! One of the few things I'm good at, happy to spread around my experience.

It has the great advantage of being WAY more fun than it sounds and easy to get people doing before they have a chance to opt out.
