Setting aside that I rarely, if ever, believe Amazon release dates...

They likely automatically added two months onto the release date because they didn't have it on the previous expected release date.

Very much this. Gale Force Nine is one of the worst companies for delays. D&D Spellbook cards?

Has anyone done a study of "who is worst" at missing deadlines? I know that publishing delays have been around for as long as publishing has been around.

I'm patient with delays, if the company explains via updates.

GF9 is the worst with keeping their customers updated. Even when someone gets a response from them, it turns out to be false.

This would be hard to do since many companies have stopped making deadlines public because the entire industry is plagued by delays.

Delays happen due to many reasons, one of which is poor planning by the game company by not allowing enough time for unforeseen problems, meaning contingency planning is lacking.

Unfortunately, some gaming companies are not very good at customer relations, and consequently fail to keep their customers informed about changes to the shipping and in-store target dates. It does not take much time or effort to keep customers informed by posting updates to a web page and sending out emails to registered customers. Professionalism beats the amateurs!
