This variant simulates the chaotic, unpredictable motions of the various objects orbiting Xia.

Setup: Shuffle the three blank tiles into the tile stack. If your version of Xia did not include blank tiles, use the alternate rule below.

Gameplay: Gameplay follows normal rules, with the following exception: at the end of any turn in which a blank tile is drawn, the current player rolls a d20. On a 1-19, remove an unoccupied tile with the corresponding number (if there is one) and shuffle it into the tile stack. If a 20 is rolled, shuffle all unoccupied tiles without numbers into the stack (except Nyr, if playing with the expansion), then gain one fame point as normal. Shuffle all unoccupied blank tiles into the stack at the end of every turn. Important: DO NOT remove any tile if doing so would divide the map in two.

Alternate rule: when playing without the blank tiles, perform the above d20 roll and action at the end of any turn in which a tile with no number was drawn, and at the end of every turn in which the tile stack is empty.

There is an event in the expansion that does something similar to this.

Just surface level. The event has 2 D20s rolled and you switch the sectors with the spawn numbers closet to the rolls. If it stays the same from play testing.
