There are a lot of questions on here about how timing works with playing cards, and sadly none have been officially answered. I sent a message to the designer yesterday, but no response yet.I'll post the answer here if he responds. It'd be nice to have an official answer.

Good luck. They just don't seam to care. Bot Cards are wrong. I had to help fix them.

Hi, I talked with the designer of Gekido: Bot Battles and he had this response for the timing of cards:

You have the following windows to play cards:

-When an attack is declared (after a player declares who he wants to attack)
-After the first roll , defender has an opportunity to play cards and/or use powers. (remember that forcing reroll MUST be used here)
-After this, the attacker has a window to play cards and or/use powers
-Finally, defender can react (the only card would be “cancel a tech card played).
-Attacker locks dice

-After each subsequent roll , you have the same options.
