Hi, everyone!

Someone in my Facebook group declared Battleship to not be solo-playable. I took it as a challenge and quickly wrote up these rules.

Since it's a 1 in 5.88 chance to hit something (83 miss locations, 17 hit locations), you just need a six-sided die and use the other player's board for marking and revealing their ships:
- On a 1, roll the die again and mark a hit on your smallest ship (odd) or largest ship (even)
- On a 6, mark a red peg; otherwise, mark a white peg
- Keep marking red pegs in a row with each successive hit
- There cannot be four misses surrounding a single red peg; place a red peg in the last legal, adjacent position
- There cannot be hits leading to the edge of the board or white peg when no unrevealed ship of matching size exists
- Immediately replace the line of hits with the ship of matching size when the line ends with a miss, reaches the end of the board, or matches the size of the largest unrevealed ship (whichever comes first)
- Sink all of the enemy ships before all of your ships sink
