We are hurtling towards the final couple of days now, and where are we at?
£55,577 pledged of £19,500 goal 1,473 backers 71 hours to go!!!
That's where! Thanks once again everybody, it's time to make that final push up (or down) Senlac Ridge and end this well-fought campaign.
Okay, I'm just going to go ahead and show you everything. There's an incredible mountain to climb to unlock everything for the game (and then some) but this way you can see the top of the campaign and everything we have planned for the scope of this particular project in these, our final days together.
Have at it people, if you're still in two minds about that playmat or second copy, then now is the time to bump your pledge and lift us over the last ridge...
King Harald Hardrada!!
This is what happens when you invite Vikings to a Saxon/Norman party! So of course the giant Viking boss Hardrada was not present (nearly mistyped pleasant, would've worked too) at Hastings. And unlike the earls Morcar and Edwin, whose speculative presence would have bolstered the Saxon side, had Hardrada arrived at Hastings then history would have been entirely different altogether and events would have taken a different path entirely. There is no way that we can encompass the effect that a Viking army - equivalent in strength to the entirety of either the Normans or the Saxons - would have had by turning up on the same day to battle in just one card. We'd need a whole Viking army deck and a third player to really get into that! But I have to be brutally honest and nip this in the bud now - as exciting a notion as this is, a third Viking deck is just not going to happen within the scope of this campaign. And Hardrada is such an incredible character from history he would indeed be best served by a game all of his own...
For now though Hardrada and the Vikings are fully represented in the game as the initial objectives that Harold has to overcome in his first two Objective cards. Hardrada was coaxed into invading the north of England by none other than Harold's own treacherous brother Tostig, and upon landing the Vikings set about doing what Vikings do and making a mess of the place. As briefly touched upon in the last update the Earls Morcar and Edwin were eventually forced into meeting the Vikings head on at the Battle of Fulford, where the Saxons were soundly beaten and routed. Harold had to march north and break all known world records even to this day moving his troops hundreds of miles marching over the space of 4 days and catching the Vikings unawares, and defeating them at Stamford Bridge in the battle that signalled the final end of the Vikings for good.
So Hardrada appears here as an event card, playable by the Normans, that fittingly represents a huge drain on the Saxon resources. Seemingly innocuous with a cost of 1, this card is best played by triggering a resource-generating card or character to pay its cost so that the Norman player doesn't feel the pain of paying for it. That said, if your Saxon opponent only has two cards left in their hand, you would be crazy not to go all Viking on them...
Causing your opponent to discard two cards is never to be sniffed at. Remember your cards in hand are also your resources in 1066, Tears to Many Mothers.
Putting the Hard in Hardrada...
Project we love on Kickstarter!!
I had a chat with the guys at Kickstarter and who would've known it would lead to us finally getting that precious Project We Love badge?! Sure it might feel a little late in the day, but how many times have the tides of battle turned in the final hours? Thanks so much to all of you guys who looked into what it takes to get this coveted badge and I can now confirm with absolute certainty the trick to earning it from Kickstarter themselves using their own words: "magic." So there you go, folks: we have literally made magic together. Was it as good for you as it was for me??
We have a couple of days left to impress the Kicktraq enough to get us back in their hot-list so if there's anyway you can click on or share the heck out of this it will really help us along in these final hours, and show them what we're REALLY going to be trending to:

King Harold in the news!!
No, this wasn't a publicity stunt on our behalf as one optimistic backer suggested, but it's an interesting and timely article about King Harry nonetheless:
Thanks so much to Carlos D (again!) for capturing this most satisfying moment from today's funding:
£1,066 funded today - coincidink or nay?
Over to you guys once more, might be time to dismount, throw down your bows, drop your swords, axes, and maces, and just pull out those daggers and get real up close and personal for those final moments. We're in the thick of it now, soldiers, and there's no backing down - things will get bloody before this is all over!

As a Solo player that Event bites the big one and hard.
Is it going to have a nice insert that allows sorting things? Probably too late to add stretch goals.
