new to the game, so "bear" with me ;)

is there any good reason to take the bear cards? or are they just there. the interest on them is unreasonable

You take them if you desperately need to die later instead of right now, or if you're convinced the game will end before the first interest tick hits and you want the bargaining power, or if you want to avoid a bear market.

If you figure that you cant afford a market crash (two "jumps" in a row) you might want to take bear card to prevent that from happening.

Sometimes the short-term gain is necessary. And if the table has too many bear cards the markets will crash and make it bad for everyone: you have to turn the wheel twice and pay all interests plus lose a tile of your most valuable industry type.

All of the above, plus sometimes you want to take a third (or, sometimes, second) Industry tile of a type and all the cards on that row are bears.
