I was wondering if there was a way to up the player count if more characters were purchased however there seems to be nothing about that in the rules.

Currently there are 8 bosses in the core box so each player(in a 4 player game) gets a chance to pass "GO" twice and be the first one to beat a boss. By adding more players that would give only the faster players a chance at multiple bosses just because of the die.

I suggest that more boss cards be added to compensate the additional players. +2 bosses for every additional character. Sure this would increase the play time but it seems like a pretty fast paced game as it is.

Maybe just allow the first couple bosses to be defeated more than once?

I'm betting we are going to see a lot of variants and fan material for this game. There is a lot of unexplored design space, and BGGers are a creative bunch.

Off the top of my head, I think players who already have a boss should have to pay more or roll higher to defeat another. Same goes for owning property.

What would be the downside to just playing as-is with 5+ players, and accepting that some people just may not get to fight as many bosses as the others?

(I haven't played this yet, so this is a non-rhetorical question!)

I'm sure the game would be just fine. In fact it would probably be shorter to a degree. I was just looking for balance is all.

Extending the game length can be problematic. Due to a rules misinterpretation, my first game was way longer than it was meant to be and the Mario character claimed 3/4 of the bank's supply of coins.
