So, I replaced all of the little chits with dice. The small dice are for if you have control of the country, and larger dice are for non-controlling influence. This makes the game at least 20 min shorter each time.

And my map kept popping up, causing things to move around, so I mounted it on chipboard. I think I went a little overboard.

Everything, including the dice, still fit in the box though, so I am happy.

How many dice did you need altogether?

THIS.

Three years ago I replaced all the influence markers in my copy with 12mm chessex dice:

Dark Blue - U.S Control

Dark Red - U.S.S.R Control

Light Blue - U.S Non-Control

Light Red (Okay, okay, pink) - U.S.S.R Non-Control

I agree with OP, it is a huge time-saver! One order of each color was enough for every game I've played with it since then.

Exactly. One order of 36 dice each color is more then enough. For my games, I only end up using around 12-20 of the non-control dice, but that is because of my play style.

Why don't you just go desecrate some shrines while you're not busy, OP!

I do love war games, but I love efficiency more!

But now that I have streamlined my plays of TS, I do have some time to go wreck some shrines. Just saying. devil

No substitute for a map board.

Not a fan.. better than what the collector's edition does though. The current way in the deluxe is perfect for me. My only issue may be late in the game you run out of the higher chits (7,8,9's) as some countries become major battles (Thailand, WGermany), where I've seen influences as high as 10.
