I've been trying to look for info on the differences on the 10th anniversary edition. Anybody here know what this edition will have different?

Very little additional chrome actually with most differences being upgrades implemented with usability in mind.

Closest thing to "bling" are a new cloth bag with logo, removable tray for bonds, money, and the new empty city markers.

Some of the other changes include:

- Water drop icons on all water hexes.
- Dozens of fixed hexes on the redrawn maps
- Countless fixes and clarifications on cards
- Major line chart on all maps (sorted in order of value)
- Scoring discs (so stacking is possible when many players occupy same spot)
- Snaking score track
- All train colors are now different than goods cubes/city colors
- Location added to title of all Hotels and site specific Service Bounties
(to save table space by allowing cards of the same type to be stacked with only title showing)

Awesome thanks! If that's the case, I'll wait for this edition. It seems like they fixed plenty of things.

I've always thought that it'd be super helpful to have the player aids include the icons on the cards. That way infrequent players aren't constantly asking what the purple diamond means, etc.

If you are referring to Dante's post, it looks like a lot but really each of those points are either very minor or simply cosmetic. I'm still playing with the original Railroad Tycoon version and there are no problems that we're overly concerned about. You're good...

As Richard noted, the game is 100% playable exactly as it is. The overwhelming majority of changes are upgrades and clarifications rather than major errors. There definitely were some actual fixes, but thousands of us have been enjoying this game in it's current state for well over a decade now. Rest easy and enjoy your purchase!

I ordered the new RotW map and cards as an add-on to my Kickstarter pledge for Railways of Nippon mainly to have an eastern US map that will more easily fit on a table, and thus, more likely to be played. I have a copy of Railroad Tycoon: the Boardgame, and the board is quite a bit larger than the one in RotW (see So you're wondering about the new reimplementation of Railroad Tycoon, and how it compares with the original: A Pictorial Overview for a visual comparison).

One other thing is coordination of goods and city colors between all the various maps. Making sure these colors match between different materials and from one map to the next has taken some extra time due to a color or two in the proofs being a bit off.

I'm glad Eagle-Gryphon Games is taking the time to make sure everything is right.

The updates are in the Kickstarter campaign for Railways of Nippon.

It's being reprinted by Eagle-Gryphon Games right now. They are reprinting the base game and all expansions with the exception, I think, of Railways Through Time. This is in conjunction with the production of Railways of Nippon. I have not seen any advertising by them of this being a tenth year anniversary edition, but all the maps, cards, rules and bits are getting redone. At least one of the boxes (Railways of Europe) is getting new art.

This is not something you should really say in public; not when there are Brits around, anyway.

Ooops: sorry - for a moment I thought this was Tony Boydell's blog ...

But hey, it's 2017. He can be happy about being bummed.

No one knows. They were meant to give KS backers an update three weeks ago and haven't said anything.

Eagle are not very good at this communicating stuff.
