Sorry for short message I'm on phone.
Does it tell me anywhere which guns are "powered turrets"? I can't see that info. And which guns are twin guns?

Also I have 2 counters "top turret 1" and "top turret 2" - does my b-17f have 2 top turrets or is the second counter only used on a different aircraft?

I know absolutely nothing about bombers. Thank you for any help.

From the official errata discussion:

Specific gun positions are covered under modifiers when executing bomber defensive fire. Twin guns, either powered (electrical or hydraulic) or not, are the Chin Turret, Ball Turret, Nose Turret (B-24), Top Turret and the tail guns(B-24). The YB-40 is a special case and all gun positions are double guns EXCEPT the Starboard and Port cheek guns, which are single mounts.
Powered Turrets: Chin (B-17G), Nose (B-24J), Top Turret and Ball Turret (All models of B17 and B-24) and tail guns(B-24). The Tail Guns (B17) are not powered.

The Top Turret 2 is for the YB-40 Version of the B-17. That was the heavy gunned escort bomber that really never worked as hoped.

Hope this helps!

I should add that on later models of the B-17G, the Cheyenne tail turret was introduced. While still not powered, it had a better range of fire enabling it to target incoming fighters from the 4:30 and 7:30 clock positions as well:

Cheyenne tail :
Traverse : 80 degrees to each beam. (Meaning, from the guns pointed straight back, they would go 80 degrees to the right, or left; 10 degrees short of pointed directly to the left or right of the plane)
Elevation : 70 degrees
Depression : 40 degrees

Compare with the F model tail position ---
Traverse : 30 degrees to each beam
Elevation : 40 degrees
Depression : 15 degrees

Note that the errata is incorrect. B17 Tail Guns are Twin.

Had the same question on TT2 chit.

Alas, 3 inbound Fw190 9, 12 and 3 O'clock high and was hoping I missed a rule on number of times Top turret could fire. Idaho Dream going to sweat a little on mission 2.

So only the Top and Ball turrets of the B17f are powered?

But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you… And I will beat you.

Yes!

B-17F the tail turret was a twin .50cals on a pivot with a leather boot to seal out the cold.

B-17G early production was the same as the "F" model. The later B-17G Had the Cheyenne Tail Turret that was still a pivot incorporating twin .50cals with more range of motion. The B-17G added the powered chin turret from the experimental YB-40 Bomber escort bomber.
