Hello!

I'm trying to play the tutorial mission to get the hang of the game.
I'm looking for the better part of the hour for a list of basic equipment and skills to go with the basic characters, i'm gouging my eyes out, and can bearly tell between the colors green and red on the cards.

@LMS, this sucked out the enjoyment and excitement out of this game, THIS IS TERRIBLE!!! non of your brilliant graphic designers coulden't have come out with different symbology for each type of class and specialization class?

Please give me a list of the starting gear, and the class abilities of each of the classes...

So disappointing...

Also, how many cyclops come in the reinforcement pack? I only got 1, but the box says 2.

That probably should have been brought up during the KS campaign :/. In the Conan KS campaign it was brought up (for different reasons) and they modified the design of their dice to be usable in black-and-white printouts and for people who have a hard time distinguishing their orange dice from their red (as i do when the lighting is not bright).

One is correct - the box has a misprint. LMS has confirmed this for me in an older thread, and the KS project page says that it contains "A 70mm cyclops accompanied by 3 scarfaces to ruin your plans".

Note, also, that the KS project also says that the reinforcements packs come with rules for increasing the difficulty (using the reinforcements), but they don't. The boxes contain only minis.

I don't think people not bringing it up during the KS is relevant. It is an issue for OP today. It will be an issue for othersincludijg those that buy at retail. None of the people I play with are colour blind yet even they had to look carefully to be sure to distinguish the blue/green skill icons.

It's relevant in that today is after everything was printed and delivered :/. i wouldn't bet on LMS doing a whole new print run of all equipment and character cards to switch to a color scheme which has more contrast. (Maybe they will - i wouldn't at all mind losing that bet.)

i agree completely that the colors are too close to each other (and printed tiny in some places, making them even more difficult to distinguish). i also have difficulty distinguishing them, but certainly nowhere near as much as the OP's difficulty with red/green.

i sympathize with that, but... there's not much which can be done about it today.

i'm surprised that the board gaming industry as a whole hasn't adopted some kind of "honor-system certification" on board games (similar to the old "Comics Code Authority" label on U.S. comic books), certifying that a game is "color-blind friendly". Such a label/certification would be mighty helpful in helping those with color blindness discern, before purchasing, whether a game is going to be visually problematic for them or not.

Not a problem at all Moshe and thank you for making this thread!

It's not something I think about often but this is a very real issue in the board gaming community. My father (who loved a good game) was also color blind.

As Geoff pointed out, in Nova Aetas, it's hard to tell the colors apart on the different cards; even for someone who is not color blind!

I hope this thread will help others as well and hopefully you will get enjoyment out of this game that you paid good money for!

I just realized also that I should give you this little piece of information before starting the tutorial (in case you don't know):

Your Heroes only start out with their basic equipment. They do not start out with any skills.

Great job David we really love you!

Only an annotation of public utility.

The Forge Master/Iron Breaker hero card have a missprint. for a correct use you have to invert the class color, so the correct list is:

Iron Breaker (Blacksmith Specialized Class)(Blue)
Twin Hammer (Blue), Heavy Armor (Blue), Eternal Ember (Red/Green/Blue)

Forge Master (Blacksmith Specialized Class)(Red)
Anvil (Red), Double Hammer (Red), Eternal Ember (Red/Green/Blue)

Of course this card will also be re-shipped with the 2nd wave

TX again

Luca LMS
