The best part of Dark Souls are the boss fights, but new players must learn lots of rules and fight lots of encounters to get there. So what we need is a starter boss: someone you can fight using only your starter equipment, who is hard enough to feel like a challenge but easy enough that you can make a couple new player mistakes without losing.

I've playtested this with every combination of characters, and it is always winnable, even with a Warrior + Assassin combo. It can be quite easy with 4 players; if you want more of a challenge, ignore the boss's ability.

Dragonslayer Armour
HP: 26, Heat Up: 12 (use the Gargoyle health dial)
Deck Size: 4, Initiative: 10
Defense: 1/1
Ability: Crumbling Armour: When the Armour is attacked but takes no damage, it gains a Stagger token.

I like this because you already have a dial and figure (Ornstein), but I am curious what you are doing for the cards. Did you make and print your own cards?

Yeah, I wrote the cards out myself. I think there's room for a second starter boss using the Smough model who is more swingy, while Ornstein is slowly worn down by the players, but it hasn't been playtested yet.

The major remaining challenge is that the Warrior is largely useless against bosses, since all his abilities are designed for hitting multiple opponents. I think just waiting for the other 6 classes will largely solve this problem, but it should also be possible to make a Skeleton Lords starter boss that the Warrior can help out with.
