is anyone else sick of moderators intentionally misinterpreting
your words and using all manner of bullshit just to afford themselves the excuse to suppress opinions they don't like?

i'm getting pretty sick of it.

is this a forum or a cult?

I think the moderators try to keep it friendly and do a pretty good job at that. I'm sure they have their biases and get it wrong sometimes, but I haven't had problems when expressing opinions against the grain here.

I was warned once about a post I made being against site policy and when I actually read the policy, I found the moderator was correct and didn't do that again.

I am subscribed to one of the moderators and have yet to see them get it wrong. In general, they want the site to be a friendly and welcoming place for all, not one filled with political/religious/sexual discussions. Think G rated (a movie rating used in the US). If you have strong opinions about something, they feel its best to express that on other sites better suited for it.

So no, not a cult, but not a forum where you can say whatever you like.

So yes, your use of the word Bull$*@t is frowned upon because there are children on here who don't need to see the word as 'normalized'.

The moderators do not have time to read everything that is posted on the site. They rely on the the regular users to notify them if something is unacceptable - the red X that you see below the poster's avatar, right there next to the thumb and GG tip buttons? That, and direct feedback from users, is what they are basing their responses on.
Yes, there are rules about what's acceptable here. If you don't want to abide by them, maybe this isn't the right place for you - there are a lot of unmoderated forums on the internet that you could be using. If posts here are being deleted or otherwise moderated, it is more than likely because a significant number of people have complained in some way.

...and most of the site admins are volunteers.
I, for one, am very grateful for the efforts of those volunteers to keep BGG a place that remains in the main, friendly, and welcoming. There is nowhere else on the internet that I would rather be.

Is BGG a work and family friendly site?

No. There are many games with adult or morbid content featured on the site. As a database and information resource we prioritized accuracy when it comes to database entries. Therefore we do not censor game titles, images, videos, or other material associated with these games. You view BGG at your own risk.

Yeah, BGG has never had a problem with fuckin' naughty words.

(It may still be frowned upon, as is often the case, but it's not against any fuckin' policy.)

Generally, Admins don't wander through the forums looking for broken rules. They look where a user has used to flag a post.

That's profanity bring prohibited when both excessive and disruptive.

The same list includes "being a nuisance," which too is enforced only when past of disruptive behavior. (Otherwise it'd clear out easily half the participants in this thread.)

To be fair there are one or two overzealous mods on BGG who have gone overboard. And some underhanded activity like censoring and palm greasing to bend the rules for some publishers. This is very rare though.

But by and far the moderators have not been bad. This isnt RPG.net which is the posterchild for gaming sites going straight to Hell and then trying to tunnel down past.

rpg.net... there is a blast from the past. Haven't been near that infected sore for years.

I don't think that's true. Octavian is the community manager and therefore the most prominent, but I think several others can and do moderate from time to time. There's a dedicated Wargames mod at least, and I think RPGG and VGG have their own mods.

There is more than one. Do you imagine how much work it would be for one person, and a gig that may not be their full-time job?

Actually, I hope it isn't his full-time job, because I'll just buy BGG and fire him to save him from the hell.

when there is only room for 1 opinion, you are living in a dictatorship.
when there is room for no opinions at all, you are living in a cult.

your collective desire for political correctness has rendered this forum useless for the purpose of conveying an actual thought.

and of course it is beyond obvious why some of you won't want to admit it.
after all, your consent is how we got here.

I see one recent post by you that has been collapsed, and you've probably been given a warning about it.

I see deliberate antagonism of another user, and politics outside RSP. Much the same with the post immediately prior that hasn't been collapsed.

It isn't your opinion that is causing this.
