Would marine vinyl plastic work as a roll out dry erase board? It would be nice to have something to mark on over a board that could be changed and re-used, especially in a game like Rail Baron. I apologize if this is the wrong forum.

If it's the same stuff I'm thinking of, probably maybe, but the stuff is usually rather thick and doesn't always lie completely flat unless it's in the sun. Wouldn't an acrylic sheet from a poster frame work better?

FWIW an acrylic sheet from a poster frame would absolutely work.

(Actually I think most poster frame panes aren't acrylic, they're more likely to be polycarbonate or just plain transparent polystyrene in my experience, but they still work. ;-)

That sounds perfect. I had only thought of such as a way to flatten out a paper "board."

I'd only advise to be gentle with the markers. I cringe at all the dry erase boards I've seen in classrooms with colored scratches permanently embedded. But it won't break the bank to get a new one after several years' use.

Ok the acrylic sheets work! Thanks and here's some geek gold. Everything erases fine, but it doesn't show that well. Perhaps someone can suggest a brand of dry erase markers? I just have cheap expo ones.

How about wet-erase (transparency) markers? That way, things don't accidentally erase as easily.

I'm amazed at what I'm learning, never even knew about wet erase markers. That will be my next attempt, thank you!
