Is the P500 reprint just a second run of the first, or will there will any deluxe components? Is the reprint coming with the mounted boards?

The reprint incorporates all the errata from the first edition, including expanded examples with pictures. Other than the mounted boards, which are not included, there are no other deluxe components.

That's right, guys, if you want those fancy mounted maps together with your second edition or simply to embellish your first edition, join the P500 for them, we are only 12 pledges away from securing them!

I'm pretty sure the mounted boards are getting made regardless of pre-orders.

At this stage, that's correct. Yesterday, GMT sent out an update stating the USE2 and the mounted maps are set for a late August release.

If it is still open on P500, you might be able to get the reduced price by ordering it now.

I was just the 500th order on the mounted maps. Super excited about this game. After watching reviews and checking out The Players Aid AARs by Alexander, I'm pumped. Looks awesome.

If it is the same sized box, I doubt it.

Can someone who is planning on getting the mounted boards try to sell me on it? USE is currently one of my favorite war games. I'd like to support it, but is there a reason?

I don't care for using plexi and I just prefer mounted map boards vs their paper counterparts.

Game boards are organic, feel great under my fingers, and keep glare from lighting to a minimum. And boards are very portable and store easily. And production quality of GMT game boards is magnificent!

Yep I'm on board for this reprint and mounted maps (no pun intended lol)

Looks great enjoyed what I've been reading about it but the tipping point has been Sal's enthusiasm and approachability on geek to answer questions whether by geekmail or in the forums.

Re: P500 Reprint Changes - correct German counters?
I've been considering a game on the European theater of WWII or on the whole world war like AWAW and US looks like a good game. The map looks good, the components and counters are nice showing creativity and historical accuracy - except one thing: the German national flags are off. I could never abide by this switching out the swastika for the balkan cross for politically correct (or whichever) reasons. Somehow I seemed to have survived all the German airplane models I built and all the war game counters with German swastikas on them from my childhood years up till the early 2000's when this trend started setting in. If the communist hammer and sickle can freely be seen on war game counters, then why not the historically correct German national-socialist symbol? Why produce a wonderful war game with great accuracy and printing and leave such an intentional error for us experienced wargamers and knowledgeable historians to just to overlook? Please consider switching back to the historical German symbol on the counters and elsewhere in this reprint. Or at least consider making the correct counters available optionally.

The swastika symbol is not on the counters to avoid any issue with selling the game in Germany, where the symbol is generally illegal.

Yes, I am quite familiar with the draconian anti-free speech laws in Germany since I speak and read German. It is a sad situation that affects many areas we Americans take for granted. However, why should we with our First Amendment personally be affected by their lack of rights? By all means, if that is good business, it makes sense to send the Germans the swastika-less counters. But should we Americans not at least have the option of a sheet of the historically correct counters?

Sal, you mentioned that the new edition will incorporate all of the first edition errata. I know you mentioned rule book changes. Are there going to be any changes to the counters, maps or player aids?

Thank you very much,

Dave

It is not good business sense to create different sets of counters and components for different locations, except possibly if creating them under a different language or other situation in which one is confident to get more sales.

It is not cost or time effective to create a different set of counters with the only difference being one symbol. That means creating two sets of files, tracking them, estimating different quantities to print, maintaining different sets of inventory, and putting together different games based on the customer's location.

While I appreciate your desire for more historically accurate images, profit margins are not high enough in this hobby to warrant doing the above.

Yes, errata for all components will be incorporated.

The map has some terrain adjustments in Scandinavia which weren't listed in the errata because they were determined relatively recently and don't affect play very much.
