Re: Hybrid - it's future (and Cadwallon) (and Cadwallon tile
a couple of questions for those interested out there...
1. Does anyone know anything meaningful about the future of Hybrid? And if you don't know anything - do you have any opinions on what you'd like Hybrid to become?
Well, Rackham has said that they're planning on revamping the game, probably to be released as a 2nd Edition, sometime next fall (second half of '08). They've said that the 'gaming material' from the 1st (current) ed will remain usable with the new version. Whether that means figures, cards tiles or whatever else, no one knows. They did say that it will open the game up to 'all of Aarkalash', so you will be able to use any faction with it.
2. Has anyone read about using the Cadwallon tiles for Hybrid? I believe this was discussed in one of the Cry Havoc mags...issue 10...I thought.....
Issue 10 gave the rules for using the outdoor tiles, as well a few scenarios. Issue 11 had a few more scenarios with the tiles. No sure about any more, though I believe one of the new issues has rules for Tir-na-bor Dwarves and related scenarios. I'm not sure if those scenarios use the outdoor tiles or the labs.
3. I understand that Cadwallon is a miniatures based RPG - from the blurb. Has anyone tried it? Can one run a decent miniatures game from it?
I've got Cad. and to be honest, I haven't really given more than a passing look at the miniatures combat rules. With that in mind, I'll say that they looked like the minis rules for the d20 system (Dungeons and Dragons)- suitable for a combat in an RPG, but I don't think you'd want to run a whole miniatures battle with them.
