hello there
Me & my wife are great fan of Fields of Arle
We want to go for another Uwe game
The idea is to play the 2 of us (very few solos games or very few more than 2P games)
Which version is better ? cave vs cave or cave farmers ?
Thxs

Having read reviews along those lines, they seem distinct from one another.

This is a very difficult question to try and answer without more context.

The Cave Farmers and Cave v. Cave are both good games and which one someone prefers is going to be largely subjective.

What is it that you and your wife like about Fields of Arle?

What kinds of things to you and your wife like about games in general?

Is set up time or storage space an issue?

Is price a concern?

Caverna is better (although it can be a little open with 2 players), but given that you have Fields of Arle, do you need another big box Uwe? You would also be getting a whole lot of stuff you don't need to accommodate the full 7 player capacity.

Cave vs Cave is much smaller and may actually suit your collection better.

thanks for your replies

@lazymountains : this is the Q ! I prefer to buy one only and a completely different game in addition rather than the 2 cavernas

@Justin

What we like in FoA is
- the great quality production
- the "we always miss 1 turn to do somthing"
- the competition

Set up / Storage / Time play / Price are not issues

@Ravage Board Gaming : I understand that to get (and pay) for extra stuff unecessary is a bit stupid ...

@Gil : I am afraid of "quick" games to be to light

Fields of Arle is my favourite Uwe, too. But I have to admit that I haven't nearly played all of his oeuvre.
Most games I play with my partner only, so whenever I choose a new game I check thoroughly whether it plays well with two.

Have you considered Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small?
It's a great big little game which becomes even better with both expansions (but those might be hard to get in English).

Another option might be Viticulture Essential Edition, for which Uwe made the mini expansion Moor Visitors. It's a wonderful worker placement game with more random elements than you would expect in any Uwe-game but as a result every play calls for a different strategy and tactics.

Hi Jerome

I have read that Caverna is a modern/updated version of Agricola...
So I wish only one of those Agricola / AaCBaS / Caverna Farmer / Caverna cave vs cave...

And viticulture is also on my screening list... specially for french players !

Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small is very different from Agricola, which I actually don't like that much at all, due to the stress of having to feed your family. If this game is available with at least one of both expansions in your language, look no further for an excellent two-player Uwe-experience.
Caverna: Cave vs Cave is new to me, too, so I can't say for sure but it sure looks completely different as well.

And I hardly dare to say, but Viticulture is about Italian wine. Ouch....

Hi Daniel
If I undestand well your point, the difference between the 2 games is mainly the length of play ?
