who offered to tip 20 for the winner of a month's contest as long as there are at least 3 submissions per month.

And we've got a microbadge you can buy, if you want to show the world, that you participated in the 24 hour contest:

for creating the badge!

Also, for this month 6 have been tipped!
YAY

Due to my vacation, I'm late this month with starting the contest ...
That's why this month's requirement is

Procrastination

Remember: The requirement is just a requirement - not necessarily a theme! It's up to you, how you involve it in your game!

Happy designing and kind regards,
Kai

p.s.:

In the behaviour rules (see link to basic rules thread above) I've written:
Quote:
Please create a second posting in that thread to present your creation.

Please do present your game along with a short description in a posting. The reason I ask you to do this is simple: Creating geeklist entries becomes easier for me because from time to time copy-n-pasting from PDFs produces unexpected results (such as copying only odd symbols into the clipboard ..)
Thanks a lot

And if you'd like to spread the word of this contest, feel free to tweet about it:

Procrastination...

So, if I (again!) don't get around to creating a game, can I count that as my entry?

Yup, me too. I've discovered it lately and wanted to jump into it!

But there should be a third person, cause I think there needs to be 3 entries for the contest to be valid.

BTW, do we need to announce when we start working on our design? Or we just need to comment that we're going to participate and then post the game when we finish it?

I usually post when I start, so that I can track the time that way, since it is 24 consecutive hours, and I'm terrible at telling time.

Not that I've had much time to participate this year... hopefully this month will be the month I have time!

Don't worry, the contest is always valid.

(By the way, don't forget to take a look at the entries from last month and vote!)

I read the rules to mean that you post when you start and post when you finish, and this seems to be the default behaviour here, but rereading them now it seems looser than that. To be honest, though, as Caroline says, working in that way does help you (and everyone else) keep track.

Good luck with your entry.

I actually have some ideas bouncing around in my head at the moment, and I think I should be able to get an entry in this time, though it's looking like it'll be something very different to things I have done in the past, and may not really be much of a game. Experimenting is good, right? I'm off for a week of holiday tomorrow, and will hopefully give it a shot when I return.

This theme fits me.
But i don't procrastinate because i'm lazy, just the opposite.

Should I design a game no one will ever get around to play?
I can call it 2099, don't play it till that year.

Can we deliver several submissions? Like, working 24hrs in a game, then working another different 24hrs in another game and submitting both?

(I feel like these questions have been asked in the global thread but who knows in what page. Sorry for being the newbie here!)

Hi Pablo and welcome to the show!

Regarding your question about number of postings:

adularia25 wrote:

First of all, This

Then again, an excerpt from the rules in the main thread:

Quote:
Behaviour rules:
If you want to participate for a phase, please use the according thread to add a posting that lets everyone know about your participation.
Please also do create a second posting in that thread to present your creation.

(This sentence also does get quoted in each contest's thread )

Regarding your question about number of entries:

Feel free to submit as many games as you like, as long as you only use 24 hours per entry!

Kind regards,
Kai

I have never tried this before, but I am going to give it a shot this month.

I started working on my game as of 2:35 UTC-7 today, so Monday @ about 2:30 I hope to post my results.

I finished my first prototype, played a game with my wife, and it was horribly broken, so at least I got that out of the way.

So, I had my first successful playthrough. The game has some interesting mechanics. Now I just need to finish up writing the rules down before my 24 hours expire.

It was pretty successful considering I stopped to chat with my extended family, hiked a waterfall, and saw a solar eclipse all during my 24 hours.

Here are the rules as I write them:

Well, my rule document isn't complete, but I ran out of time. Though the rules are complete in my mind, and I could play a game.

I think that that means that I lost?

Either way. I will continue to work on the game later. It was a fun exercise.

So you kinda procrastinated while doing a game about procrastinating, huh?

I actually LOVE the theme in the game. Atlantis + antique collectionism + humour? Sign me in!

OK, it looks like I won't have a decent 24 hour period this month, but I have an idea, this evening, and parts of tomorrow to work with, so start the clock now... I'm giving it a go...

Entry
Hi again.

I'm not sure how much more time I will have to work on this today, so I've got to a point where I can round off, and so, may I present...

One Day at a Time
A game-like activity about spoons for one person

By Rob Harper

Not everyone has enough energy to do everything that might be asked of them in a day, and there are many possible reasons for this, including disability and chronic illness, both mental and physical. The idea of using a finite number of spoons to represent a limited amount of energy resource has become a common metaphor in recent years.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoon_theory

One Day at a Time is game-like activity where you try to deal with challenges and tasks using a limited number of spoons. There are no victory or loss conditions. You play a series of "days", and on each day there are a number of activities and challenges to face, and how you deal with them will affect what happens to you the next day.

Rules PDF on Dropbox
PnP cards PDF on Dropbox

There are 4 pages of cards to print and cut out and you will also need 9 spoons or other tokens to use instead.

I've got a reduced amount of time and my idea has a serious amount of disconnect between requirement, theme, mechanics and reality, but I'm in.
