We've been playing this variant since the beginning and so far, no complaints whatsoever.

Anyone else has tried it?

You said there were no complaints but, were there any aspects that were enhanced by playing with two decks, any new nuances, improved balance, unforeseen strategies? What was different?

Ah, yes.

There's a few things. The first one is that it prevents players from "feeling" that the deck screwed them in favor of the opponent.

When you use your own deck, only the cards drawn by you will affect the odds of getting a certain card in your next turns.

When your opponent also draws from your deck as well, and by fate gets good ones (like +4, +5), he effectively reduces your chances of getting that card as the match goes.

In other words, in the original ruleset, when you get low cards, you increase the odds of the opponent to get high cards, and vice versa. So it's easier to blame the opponent's luck.

Playing with 2 decks just level that thing completely. Each player has exactly the same odds of getting good cards, throughout the match. It's a very simple variant, which doesn't have that much impact on the game.

We limit the numbers of fire and wall tokens to 4, as per the normal box contents, but if any card that would bring more token is played, the player can move walls/fire tokens to another legal location.

That sounds like a reasonable point and it seems to be a valid variant. I will offer it to my opponent next time we play

There's also an added bonus to this variant.

Some teams have affinity on specific cards to become really threatening.

The most glaring case is Scatter for Goblin teams, so if their opponent draws them up instead...it will have an important impact on the game.

With a deck for each player, it's still up to the luck of the draw as to when or if the Scatter cards show for the goblins, but at least opponents will not remove the possibility of getting them entirely.

This is especially apparent with more than 2 players drawing from the same deck.
