We played this as a side mission this afternoon and had a point of contention regarding "Imperial Response", the text reads:

---

The first time a Rebel figure enters the Corridor:

<> The Red deployment points are now active.

The Imperial player chooses 1 of the following:

<> The door to the Catwalk is locked. A Rebel figure can interact with a door (3 Tech)

> Increase Threat by the threat level.

> Deploy the reserved Stormtrooper group to any red point. Each of those figures becomes Hidden.

---

Our question is, is that written correctly or should the line about the door be before the line about choosing?

We ended up playing it as the latter and the Imperial player deployed the Stormtrooper group and the door was locked. If it is written correctly,.. why would any Imperial player choose anything but the first option?

Well, for a team with Saska and her devices, a 3 Tech test is cakewalk. Additionally, if the IP doesn't have much on the board and there is time left for the Rebels to burn, locking the door wouldn't help much either.

It's meant to be played as written. The IP picks whichever option is best at the time and doesn't mention the choices that weren't chosen.

Another way to look at it, is if the rebels are getting clobbered, the IP can choose an easier option to give them a chance...or just make them think they have one!

There are 3 alternatives. One is a persistent rule and two are immediate effects (triangles).

Spoiler (click to reveal)
With certain heroes and a reliable access to focused, getting 3 successes on a single interact + attribute test is not that hard.

If the rebels have Fenn with Rebel Elite, it may still be the best option, but otherwise it's pretty situational which option will be the best.

Yeah, I'd much rather have the Stormtroopers or the threat in most circumstances than a measly 3 Tech door. The door's going to cost one Rebel at most two actions.

The Stormtroopers are probably the best choice as they will cost most heroes three actions just to kill, even without the Hidden, and never mind the rests they'll need to shrug off the damage and the chance to actually score a Wound. Stormtroopers firing from hidden will reliably roll four damage, so against some bad rolls that could add up to 12 damage (three rests or enough to Wound most characters) in one round plus the actions needed to mop them up.

The threat may or may not be a good choice, depending on how high the threat level is, but if it lets you bring out a Nexu or a couple of Royal Guard it could score you even more Rebel actions than the Stormtroopers.

Sometimes, road blocks that need actions are the best thing you need to throw at the Rebels. Enemies can be ignored, while a door in the way cannot. If you are aiming to win the game via the Rebels running out of time, or have very little hope of wounding them, then making them waste extra actions on things like this is really useful.
