Using the tin as a prison is a fantastic idea! I considered trying to use it in my design, but couldn't think of anything fun.

Re: [WIP] Tinmates - 2017 Mint Tin Design Contest - Ideas phase
So happy to announce that Tinmates is finally components ready!

Tinmates PnP File

Updated components list(ones you'll need to source in bold):

1 Tin/Prison
8 coloured cylinders (4 gang leaders (1 per player) and 4 action trackers(1 per player) - these can be anything that fits in the tin, we think short cylinder counters would be ideal but we used risk pieces!
28 8mm cubes (4 per player) (we ran out of cubes, so pictured is the game with dice, which are actually bigger than the cubes)
8 Stat tracker cards (2 per player)
16 Action locations(4 per player)
20 Guard cards

Pictured here with 3 players worth of components, but there is space for a fourth player (we just didn't have enough spares!)

If anyone has any questions about the rules please go ahead and ask them here. I will get back to you as soon as I can.

All feedback welcome!! Enjoy!

I wanted to make an area control game which included the tin and we threw around a lot of ideas - Gangsters, Oil drillers, Astronauts, but when we came up with a prison it seemed like an instant fit! I hope you enjoy the game!

This looks like it will be a lot of fun. I like the overall look. The only think that looks kind of out of place are the people on the Stat Trackers. Everything else has a very Spartan feel to it. Those seem to read more Undercover Agent then Inmate. Other than that I love the look and feel of the game.

I'm currently working out one more game and then hopefully I can print this out and give it a go. I'll let you know.

Cheers,
Gary

I was going for a mugshot style photo - looking to the side and in front - but didn't get round to adding the height markers yet. I'll have a think about what could replace them

For those interested in a solo mode:

Poll
Been working on a solo mode this weekend but the AI keeps thrashing me. Before I do some balancing, a question:

How often should a player win against an AI in a solo mode?
100%
80%
60%
40%
20%

Re: [WIP] Tinmates - 2017 Mint Tin Design Contest - Components Ready!
I wanted to put 30% of the time. If the game is not challenging enough it's not that fun as a solo experience for me. If I am able to win the first time I play, then it's not a very good solo game to me, because they're just be some sort of learning curve.

Re: [WIP] Tinmates - 2017 Mint Tin Design Contest - Components Ready!
Thanks for the feedback, I'm working out a way to vary the difficulty of the AI opponents so hopefully that'll work out. Working at the base rules first so that everything is contest ready (deadline is approaching now!) and will work on the AI rules after.

Re: [WIP] Tinmates - 2017 Mint Tin Design Contest - Components Ready!
Just dropped a big update including:

*Action card balances
*Revised rules, now on 1 A4 sheet and much clearer to read (edit: 1 A4 sheet when printed double sided!)
*Solo mode with varied difficulties
*New stat trackers and power trackers based on feedback (also, with visual reminders of starting stats for different player counts)

Looking for some last minute feedback before we declare Tinmates as contest ready! meeple

I know I said I'll give updates here but I've been really bad at that, I'll post some updates soon because I've done lots of work to Tinmates since January!

I'm a little busy with Dice Diner for the 2 player PnP contest right now too!
