I do not think it means what you think it means.

Whenever you become anxious or stressed, outer purpose has taken over, and you have lost sight of your inner purpose. Your state of consciousness is primary. All else is secondary.

We prefer a game with significant luck to be shorter - so we don't have to play out a bad position for hours. We made some changes that were fun to try.

1. We used 12 sided dice instead of D6's. They move our ships around the board much quicker avoiding some of the tedium of D6's. We also tried D20's but that seemed too powerful/quick. Using D12's the game lasted much less than an hour.

2. The reduced chance of doubles reduces the scare from storms. So we added a D6 to be rolled each turn that triggers a storm when a 1 is rolled. We had little problem with storms even using a D6 because we could usually stay in port (a nuisance) or get to a port. Not sure if we want storms to play a bigger role.

3. When buying Cargo Cards we drew 2 and kept 1. The cards not added to our hand are kept in a personal supply from which we can choose when buying additional Cargo Cards. Additional cards make for interesting choices and reduce the chance of very bad luck in card draws.

These changes made Great Lakes Cargo an interesting little race.
