If a mob is in a room with a hero and a hero one zone away does a range attack, does the mob leave the room with the hero and move into the attackers zone on their counter attack?

If the enemy is melee? Not unless they have Slippery. Otherwise they are stuck in melee combat with the other hero.

Eric is correct, but just for completeness: ranged or magic enemies that are within range of the hero they are counterattacking will simply fire at that hero. The other hero in that zone is irrelevant. If the attacking hero is out of range, the counterattacking enemy would try to move within range but would be trapped by the 2nd hero (unless the enemy has slippery) just as in the melee example.

Are you sure this is correct ? lets say there is a hero in the zone with a ranged monster . Can that monster make range counter attack to another hero few zones away even if he is blocked in his zone?

I thought that range monesters being in the zone with a hero can use only melee attacks

Ranged combat is not prohibited when an enemy is in the ranged attacker's zone, but the ranged attacker cannot target an enemy in their own zone (range 0). (This differs from Sword & Sorcery, where ranged combat is prohibited if an enemy is in the ranged attacker's zone.) Yes, an Enemy with ranged attack can counter-attack a distant Hero even if the Enemy's movement is blocked by a Hero in their space.

See the black box on the bottom/right of page 27.

It is worth reading page 28 of the rules if any of the above is confusing to you. It is explained clearly there how Activations work and it should be clear that Ranged/Magic Enemies are not shut down by Heroes in their Zone.

Page 28 describes normal Activations, but it can also easily be used to explain Counter-Attacks, as the only difference is that the target is always the Turn Player, so you ignore the parts of the Attack and Move steps of the Activation that detail how to choose the target.
