This thread is for playing only. Please ask your questions about rules and playing in the discussion thread.

It's time to play!
I've received 50 rules and can use 23 of those rules! Sorry for the long rule book, but it's your own fault.

The rulebook:
Sorry for any spelling mistakes. I copied most rules directly from the original submitter.

#1 The goal of the game is to have most points at the end of the game. The game ends after 5 rounds.

#2 Every player starts with 5 +1 tokens and 5 -1 tokens.

#3 On your turn you roll these dice:

1custom6{Move;Run;Bite;Nothing;1;2}

#4 The alpha-numeric symbols (@,!,# and $ cannot be changed with tokens and count as a 0 in any other way).

#5 You must roll all the dice any time you roll and you may only roll the dice a maximum of 3 times during your turn!

#6 You are allowed 2 re-rolls during your turn for the cost of 3 +1/-1 tokens or 3 points.

#7 If you roll a 1 with the d20, you are not allowed to make your next roll. If your next roll is forced by some rule, then you end your turn with your current roll (you do have to pay for the reroll!).

#8 At some point during the game you have to physically stack dice on top of each other. (Take a picture and post it!)

#9 Anytime you roll a one on any die, immediately score one point.

#10 After you (re)rolled your dice and paid the cost for re-rolls you choose which competitor may use the dice roll. Choose one of the users at the bottom of this reply. This player will earn the points you earned/scored this turn and may move Sparky (see rules about Sparky). A player can be chosen only once per round.

#11 We also have a ladder with 5 rungs. If in a round you rolled highest with your D20 you will be put one rung higher. Only 1 player can stand on rung 1. At the end of the game you get points on which rung you are:
Rung 1 = 1 point
Rung 2 = 2 points
Rung 3 = 3 points
Rung 4 = 4 points
Rung 5 = 10 points

#12 The main player pawn is Sparky from Dead of winter. The D6 with Move/run/bite is used to move Sparky on the ladder. With move you can put Sparky one rung higher or lower. With run you can put Sparky exactly 2 rungs higher or lower. With bite Sparky will bite one of the players on that rung. The player that is assigned the roll will choose who is bitten and that player will loose 1 point.

#13 This rule is triggered last, after any modification of dice or re-rolls of other rules:
If you and another player roll the same number (with any die, in the same round), everyone who rolled the same number must re-roll. If this still results in 2 or more players with matching numbers, the new numbers stand. If the other players that rolled the same number already rolled 3 times, then they can't re-roll and thus their old numbers stand (other players still have to re-roll). The other players also need to pay for the re-roll. The player who got the roll assigned must post a reply with the re-roll and (s)he has to pay with tokens or points. If the D6 for Sparky has changed, then the player must again move or bite with Sparky (the old result is not reverted! As that would cause chaos).

#14 each successive player has the option to use the same die result for their action instead or rolling. But doing so provides a victory point to the original(Not the player who got chosen by the original poster/roller/player) roller. This does not trigger the rule above about rolling the same result as another player.

#15 If you roll two 1s in a row (that is 2 dice after each other. Even in 1 roll. So that is the D20 + D4 OR D4 + D6 OR D6 + D6 OR D6 + D20), and you are not a Troll, then you suffer from Lycanthropy. Anytime you roll another 1, you change to and from a werewolf. While a werewolf, your rolls are doubled (when the result is a number) unless a 1 in which case you turn back to normal and end your turn.

#16 The D6 with 0;0;0;1;1;2 tells you how much dice can be modified. You can modify any of the other dice that shows a number with your +1/-1 tokens (discard tokens after use). You can use multiple tokens for the same die. +1 changes the result to 1 higher, -1 to 1 less. You can only change it to a face that is on the die! The D20 can't be changed from 9 to a higher number or from 11 to a lower number, as 10 doesn't exist on that die (same for the D6).

#17 Any time in the game if a 6 is rolled the player rolling the dice must say "Six is afraid of 7 because 7 ate 9!"

#18 If two or more of your dice show the same value, then all but one of those dice can be changed to a face of your choice.

#19 After every even number rolled the player needs to explain why it was exactly what they wanted, regardless of whether the other rules make it a good roll or not. And after every odd number rolled, the player needs to complain that an opponent is now obviously going to win because of some reason.

#20 If you roll a 1 on your first D20 roll. You are eliminated from the game! This can not be changed by a token and can't be re-rolled. You do get 1 point for rolling a 1, so you might even not end up last.

#21 If any die happens to land outside the playing area, that player has to undo her/his last dice roll entirely. (Not used in Play By Forum)

#22 You must re-roll if you've rolled a 2. (Except when you've already rolled 3 times in a turn)

#23 Colored dice must be used in conjunction with like-colored dice. For example, a blue 6 and a red 3 cannot be combined/used together but a blue 3 and a blue 2 could be. (Not used in Play By Forum)

Extra Play By Forum rules:
NO EDITING OR DELETING OF POSTS! This will disqualify you from playing.
Use 1 reply to roll your dice.
Use 1 or 2 new replies if you want/need re-rolls.
Use 1 extra reply to tell who must use your roll.
You can take your turn in 1 of these 3 situations:
- The roll was assigned to another player and that player posted how he uses his roll.
- The roll was assigned to another player, but no further action is required by the other player.
- A 1 was rolled in the first round with the D20. The player is eliminated and thus another player can play.

Please only use this thread for playing. Any comments, discussion,
questions etc. can be posted in the original discussion thread.

That 2 was exactly what I wanted, because I need to spend my +1 tokens somehow.
That 7 obviously will make elephantgirl win, even though I have to re-roll it.
Because of that 1 now GalaGalaxia will win, because I might assign this roll to him and he'll get the points.
Because of that 3, pfrsantos will win, because that's his lucky number right?

Re-roll because I rolled a 2. I'll pay 3 +1 tokens, so I have:
2 +1 tokens left
5 -1 tokens left.

This turn I gathered:

Because of the 15 GalaGalaxia will win, because that is a pretty high D20 roll.
Now pfrsantos will win, because 3 is his lucky number and I rolled it twice!
0# is pretty good, because now I can't spend any more tokens.
6 is pretty good, because it's not a 1.

I'll assign this roll to GalaGalaxia.

Maybe someone could create a summary for the rules? E.a.:
-Roll all dice.
-Check if you've got ...
-Check if you've got ...
-Re-roll if...

I read the rules and have no real idea what's going on, so now is the best time to jump in. (Plus it's better than what I should be doing.)

These rolls are exactly what I wanted! 12 is a decent roll, the 2 means I have to re-roll (and why wouldn't I want to roll again in a dice game), the two ones mean that I suffer from Lycanthropy (score!), and I get to say "Six is afraid of 7 because 7 ate 9!"

Also, Alex H is clearly going to win because he's listed just before me on the list above. And Dr. Udo is going to win, because HEDGEHOG!

Since I must roll again, I spend 3 of my -1 tokens. I have 5 +1 and 2 -1 tokens left.

This turn I scored: 2 points

I think this might truly be what I wanted this roll.
17 is a pretty darn good number to roll.

I didn't forget the rule, but the rule makes it sound like you catch lycanthropy after 2 ones in a row, but it doesn't take affect until I roll the next one like I just did.

I have been thinking about this all day and I’ve decided that I misjudged. This game is not playable by forum, because:
- The game is complex. All the separate rules have difficult interactions that aren’t really clear.
- It is really hard to manage. All the checking if everything went correct and keeping a backlog behind the screen of the rolls, points, tokens etc. is a lot of work.
- There are a lot of rules.
- Without having played a physical version of the game, a play by forum version is difficult to follow/play/understand etc.
- If something didn’t went according to rules (which happens easily), then it’s hard to redo it or go back to that state. It requires the moderator (me in this case) to be online a lot. Which I can’t guarantee.
- The game requires that players that already did their turn need to come online to react on getting a roll assigned.
- Some rules (like checking if someone else rolled the same numbers as you) are a lot of work to check in a PBF game.

I’m sorry, but I’m going to cancel the game. All this seemed like a really fun idea, but it turned out to be too complex and too big. I hadn’t foreseen this when I submitted this idea to Stephen a while back. I will still draw a winner at the end of September.

Did we fail?
No we didn’t. We created a playable game with some really awesome rules. Thank you all!
