WHAT IS 5 MINUTE DUNGEON:

5 minutes of shear insanity, a furious pace, ensuing mayhem and hilarity with the possibility of defeating the big bad at the end. You and your friends will frantically try to race the timer to defeat the dungeon as you flip over dungeon cards and try to defeat the cards symbols with the cards in your hand. All hands on deck as every player plays simultaneously to defeat the big boss.

WHO IS THE GAME FOR:
Families
children
adults
novice players

QUALITY OF COMPONENTS:

the player mats and boss mats are made of a good quality cardboard with a good mat finish.
cards are thin and bend easily. they do have a gloss finish but edges nick quite often.

PROS

a fast and fun game.
good game for non gamers.
the timer App, get it, the voice overs are hilarious and a good variety of voice clips.

CONS:

Very thin flimsy cards that bend easily.
later bosses (level 3 and up) hard or impossible to defeat.

TIME: 5 minutes (per boss, 5 bosses)
NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 2-5
AGE 8+, younger than 8 should have no problems as long as they can read

DIFFICULTY:

Very easy.
challenging at the higher bosses.
basically matching symbols to defeat dungeon cards.

FINALE THOUGHTS:

I have played this game many, many, times with 2, 3 and 5 players. I played it at Gencon and immediately bought a copy on the spot, as we had a blast playing it. The frantic pace, simultaneous play, and funny voice clips on the timer assure a chaotic, clamorous 5 minutes of play and everyone will have fun doing so. This is a quick game that is easy to play and learn and is good for parties or as a break between longer games, or just to pull out and have fun with the family.

However, this game as a big problem, defeating the higher bosses. The issue steams from not having enough cards at the end to overcome all the symbols on the big boss mat. This can become frustrating, and becomes even more troublesome if you include 2 challenge cards per player as the instructions recommend.

Depending of the number of players, the challenge cards can add up to 5 mini bosses that eat up even more of your cards. Some of this can be overcome by playing the Yellow healer deck, which allows retrieving cards you have played; the blue magic deck, which allows the use of the magic bomb giving you 1 of each symbol and the green ranger deck, which gives you wild cards. I would recommend using these three decks every game.
