All Knights are enjoying Camelot's hospitality while Sir Morholt III draws near.

* Sir Morholt III - Avoided Merlin/Morgan, got lost, faced a Serpent, got a message about a marriage of state and was challenged by a pipsqueak...

* Sir Harald Haraldsson - Awaits the Tournament.

* Sir Kenneth of the Greenwood - Awaits the Tournament.

* Sir Ector of Ireland - Awaits the Tournament.

* Sir Balldanor - Awaits the Tournament.

* Sir Brutus - Awaits the Tournament.

I'll stay with this thread until Sir Morholt gets to Camelot, so things can move along a little faster.

Turn 47 is this way.

Luck of the day - 1d6 = (2) = 2

I think he edge of the forest might be THIS way!

Encounter roll - 1d6 = (6) = 6

What? A glade? Is this forest enchanted? Ah wait, I see country side to the south! I think I know the way.

Oh wait.

After consulting the rulebook, a Merlin prophesy would be TERRIBLE right now.

I would instead like to try to AVOID!

Did we really avoid Merlin ... or are we just simply lost and can't find anything anyway?

When your bleached bones are found when they pave the forest over, millennia from now...

You avoided the encounter successfully (with a Luck of 2, no big surprise).

Retention tests:
* Sir Launcelot 1d6 = (1) = 1
* Sir Bors 1d6 = (2) = 2
* Sir Ector 1d6 = (3) = 3

Sir Launcelot is getting bored and wants to leave. Pleading would be automatically successful, but will you plead? Shrinking your party size would help you get to Camelot faster...once you're no longer lost.

I didn't realize that party size affected travel speed.

Hmm .. the game theory part of me thinks that I should take the opportunity to try and farm CP/VP along the way.

I will plead with Launcelot and agree to let him lead us out of the woods since he's so sure of the path.

It does not affect speed, just likelihood of encounter (except in Forests and Rivers).

Sir Launcelot (WL 30) vs Serpent (WL 9)
Round 13:
* Sir Launcelot (WL 30) lance 1d6 + 1d6 + 1d6 + 5 = (5) + (5) + (1) + 5 = 16
* Serpent (WL 9) 1d6 + 1d6 + 1d6 = (2) + (1) + (3) = 6
And the Serpent is defeated! Sir Morholt III earns 8 CP and 8 VP.

The comrades agree they should split up to avoid attracting more monsters. Sir Morholt III appeals to their good sense: "There is strength in numbers! What if another monster should find them?"

* Sir Launcelot (VL 2+4) 1d6 + 1d6 = (4) + (2) = 6 stays
* Sir Bors (VL 1+4) 1d6 + 1d6 = (4) + (4) = 8 stays
* Sir Ector (VL 3+4) 1d6 + 1d6 = (5) + (1) = 6 leaves

TURN 44

Sir Morholt III's Luck-of-the-Day 1d6 = (3) = 3

Lost test: 1d6 = (2) = 2
Encounter is 1d6 + 1d6 = (2) + (6) = 8 = Lost

No point in checking retention since Sir Morholt III wants to keep them around, and their VL mean they'll automatically stick around.

Redeploying Merlin/Morgan: 1d6 + 1d6 = (4) + (4) = 8, 1d6 = (3) = 3 = custom2{Dyfed;Powys} -> ( Dyfed) -> ( Dyfed)

TURN 45

Sir Morholt III's Luck-of-the-Day 1d6 = (5) = 5

Lost test: 1d6 = (4) = 4 "What's this? Daylight! We're free!"

Encounter number is 3.

Entering Mercia: 1d6 = (3) = 3. Encounter is 1d6 + 1d6 + 1 = (5) + (1) + 1 = 7 = 1d6 = (1) = 1 Knight. He does not bear Camelot's colours. Avoid, await, attack?

It is Sir Lavaine.

Reaction: 1d6 + 1d6 = (4) + (5) = 9 = Give Message.

He recognizes your device and hands you a message. 1d6 + 1d6 = (4) + (1) = 5 = Wedding of State. You are informed of a Wedding of State that duty demands you attend. The wedding is to be held in 1d6 + 1d6 = (1) + (2) = 3, 1d6 = (2) = 2, 1d6 = (5) = 5, 1d6 = (4) = 4 = Galloway.

You must proceed by the shortest path to that Castle; it will be temporarily friendly. After the wedding, which consumes a turn, you may approach the Castle’s Lord and make a Request. You will receive 3 VP for attending the wedding.

If you refuse to attend the wedding, it will cost you 6 VP.

I don't think I can afford the hit, nor should I for such a joyous occasion.

I'm certain we have the lay of this forest down now.

To Galloway!

Not wanting to be a party pooper at a wedding... but under the rules on pg.70 is not Sir Morholt required to make all haste for Camelot??

Exception seems only to be granted for tasks on which the PK is currently engaged at time of the tournament announcement. Galloway is a pretty steep detour.. GM fiat of course. I assume one could decide to skip the tournament.

pg 70? What book are you looking at?

On p25, I see the Wedding of State message declares that I must attend and has no reference to being allowed to decline the invite nor the penalty for doing so.

Is there a more robust rulebook than the version I have?

I know I would've looked to partake in additional adventures while waiting for Morholt to arrive in Camelot if it were an option, but I read the "make all haste for Camelot" also as not having any options but to decline offered adventures once the initial one was completed.

That's an interesting corner case we've run into, with both events claiming priority. I think the middle ground is to put both in a single "high-priority queue" with seniority. In this case, this means Sir Morholt III must make all haste to Camelot, and after that tournament is done, he must make all haste to the wedding. I'll release version 3.3 of the rules shortly, as there have already been a few tweaks I've incorporated into them.
