Can anyone suggest other games for someone who likes DS-D6? (despite the theme)

This entry for the 2017 Mint Tin Design Contest could be worth having an eye on.

If PnP is something you're interested in.

Depending on what it is that said person enjoys about DS-D6, if it's because it's a quick, light, solo dice chucker then could this Geeklist be of interest?

Ancient Artifacts (on KS now) has a nice dice placement/chucking feel combined with press your luck. One Deck Dungeon is chucking a lot of dice and placing them correctly to overcome threats. I'm also looking forward to the new edition of D-Day Dice. DSD6 is a pretty unique animal though.

Well the one that comes up most is Star Trek, The Dice Game. This game is in many ways an outgrowth of DSD6 but in the world of Star Trek with a 5 year mission and developments that enable you to build up the ship to a more powerful state. From the first you also have a lot of dice modification that gives you some control over your fate.

Another similar game but on another theme is the developing PnP game Dungeon Hack. This is a dungeon crawler dice chucker which is (in its latest incarnation with the new dice modification Cleric) quite a puzzly dungeon crawler with tiles but no real tactical board. You work through the character board in the same way you work from DSD6's ship board.

I also did a "historical variant" of DSD6 as a WWII convoy protection game which borrows a lot of concepts from DSD6 called Convoy Commander. It too is a print and play but feels somewhat similar.

All three of those games have similarities structurally to DSD6. Also there is a new game underway by the creator of DSD6, Tony Go, called Deep Space D-6 Armada which will use some of the same concepts as Star Trek, the Dice Game by having the player play a series of adventures during which he can upgrade his ship. We don't know what that will be like yet, but I'm staying tuned. Also Tony is doing an expansion to DSD6 as part of a kickstarter that ran recently (concluded now I think) and I'm looking forward to that too.

Lastly, there are a number of fan made expansions in the forums including new ships. I did a bunch -- the best one is the Enterprise A (here) https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1675962/reworking-federatio...

The Enterprise A is a version of Nick Shaw's Enterprise A which you have to look for in his posts because he posted it with another of his ships. I like to think I polished up a little. I also created a bunch of other Star Trek ships from various factions but keep coming back to the A because it just plays better than anything I did. It's not easy figuring out what makes a ship survivable in Tony's game so my ships SHOULD have been good, but were strangely difficult (matching well with the ships in the actual game which can be quite a challenge!).

Anyway good luck finding what you want.

Not space theme, but I think that Zombie Apocalypse: The Dice Game by Joseph Propati also uses Deep Space D-6 mechanics for approaching zombies. If you are into zombies. And PnP.
