In the Monk skills there is skill called Openhanded.

Here is what the skill says:

Use this card when you defeat a monster with your bare hands to immediately perform 1 additional attack.

Each time you perform an attack with your bare hands, that attack gains:

Pierce X where X equal to the Range result.

[SURGE]: Stun

How is "bare hands" defined in Descent 2.0? Is any attack without a weapon in hand "an attack with your bare hands"?

This comes into play as it would mean that you can wield a shield and still attack barehanded?
And of course if this is possible it also makes to question that can you wield 2 shields?

Bare hands is defined on page 12 of the rules:

Rules, page 12 wrote:
The player must also declare which equipped weapon his hero is using.
Heroes may either attack with one equipped weapon or their bare hands.
A hero attacking with his bare hands can only target an adjacent space
and rolls only the blue attack die for his attack.

So, any attack not using a weapon (even if one is equipped) is a bare hands attack, using only the blue die and having no ablities (apart of course from this monk ability).

It also follows that since shields are not weapons, you can wield two shields and attack bare handed.

That probably means that a monk will be my favourite class from now. Wielding double shields makes it even better.

What I’m getting wrong?
Why is ONE single blue dice good?

Normally, a single blue die for unarmed attack is horrible, but the monk has a number of class cards that gives him bonuses and other effects when he attacks with his bare hands. Just look at the top post, he can continue to attack with pierce as long as he kills his target and pays a fatigue.
